Young folks, Listen up!

Good message Dave. When I was a kid I never used sunscreen or had a shirt on when in the sun. Fast forward to when I learned about melanoma, and now I never take my shirt and I sunscreen up. Im also the geek wearing a long sleeve shirt at the beach and while in the water. Plus I was lucky enough to inherit red moles from my grandfather., and they don't mix too well with the sun.

 

Scary stuff Dave and great advice. As much as i hate to admit it im guilty as charged myself with years of working outside with no protection.

Smart having them checked as early detection is important and keeping on top of them. We were all young once and had that invicibility feeling. Now im semi old and semi invincible!

 

Wear the one with the FHC logo on it. Pics too please!

 

I really like wearing Tilley hats. They come in different colours and shapes. When we are on the sailboat, these helped with the glare and the chin/back of head straps kept it on our heads. they are very durable.

Glad you got checked, Dave. I've had several spots treated with that cream that burns them off, 2 basal cells surgically removed (arm and temple), then this big squamous cell popped up a few years ago...
It required Mohs surgery, area between quarter & 1/2 dollar size.

Those other spots are from the cream to kill cancer cells.

 

Ouch...and still came out a handsome wood hoarding fool!

Same can be said for hearing protection, PPE, sunglasses etc.

Def do the Vit D, almost everyone should. It's a biggie, all kinds of benefits of D.

It has served me well over the years. The 360⁰ mesh for ventilation, works fine.

The size is indicative of my fat head.

 

I'll second Dave's advice. Voice of experience is worth listening to. I was a red head. I didn't know about sun screen. I now have to see a dermatologist on a regular basis to have my precancerous spots treated. They freeze the spots. Sometimes I have 4 or 5 treatments to the same spot before they give up. I once had some ointment applied to my face, then sat under some blue lights. That fried my face. I was scabs all over. So bad I didn't go out in public. Hurt like hell esp. after the second treatment. I told the doc no more of that.
