Glass is a pane! Where to buy a pane not so painful?

Hey? The glass in my woodstove door is cracked, eventually it seems certain to fail.

I about "failed" when I saw the price of a replacement glass for my stove.
$370.00 here? And $463 here! Are you kidding me?

Now I know it's "special glass" oh, isn't it special!

A local glass place here in Oregon will custom cut me one for about $220. Ok, that's better...
Anybody know a place, a person, a possibility to get a replacement for way cheaper?

    Thanks!

Run your info through this joint online. Can't say I've used them, but they gave me a reasonable price on my required dimensions. Worth a look if nothing else.

Wow! That site is much better on pricing. Of course this is all academic until Buzz Benton includes some dimensions. :sherlock::D

Ok, that place is only a couple hundred miles to my north so I wrote them and supplied them with the information. Thanks, and I'll let everyone know how this turns out.

It is not plain window glass, but I forget the proper name. it is of the same type used on the front of your stoves oven or a counter top oven. Hence the increase in cost.

Gotta say, that's a handsome stove. And that hearth is beautiful.
I don't get jealous too often but might make an exception here.

Do some research for Neoceram glass, google and youtube.

Do the same research for Schott Robax glass.

All stove glass isn’t created equal.

First you’ll need to know exactly what thickness you need. If you find what thickness your stove requires, then decide which glass.

Most wood stoves manufactures use Neoceram glass.

Most coal stove manufacturers use Schott Robax glass. Kuma wood stoves also use Robax glass.

I recommend the Schott Robax if you can find the right thickness. Check out some of Kuma wood stove glass videos on youtube, also Schott Robax youtube videos as well. The Kuma video if Robax glass they smack it with the corner of a 2x4 right in the middle of the glass…and I mean they whack on it…and it doesn’t break. Really resistant to thermal shock as well. Just don’t try and latch the door the wood against it because the pressure will break it as it would with any glass.

So long as you don’t over tighten it when installing then it really shouldn’t need replacing.

Our glass was hazy when we bought the stove. There's a stove shop in Putnam, and we got a direct replacement, oem.
I kept the old, in case the new one broke ever, rather than getting a second new one. We very much depend on this heat, i have backups of about everything to keep it running....

I've brought my door to the local PE dealer and he replaces the ceramic window. The last time there was a clip update and at (one of) the clip is where it has cracked twice. The window gasket had shrunk quite a bit too. He also replaced the door gasket. It wasn't an expensive part or labor charge.
