What Chimney do you use?

That's a great price for all that pipe.

 

I rather doubt you want single wall stove pipe when you were looking for chimney pipe.
Stove pipe (single wall) requires 18 inches of clearance and I don't think you can even use it in an enclosed chase.


and yeah, it's possible to spend just as much or more on a chimney than the stove.

 

I know we did when we installed our stove 10 yrs ago.

I was hoping that im able to run it out that window well and up the side of my house…opposite side of the woodstove that’s on first floor

Single wall can't be used as chimney pipe...it will run cold and creosote up like a sonofabeech!
In plain English, using that as chimney pipe is a REALLY bad idea!
What you want is double wall insulated chimney pipe...and 8" cost a good bit more than 6", which is what 99% of modern stoves use...and a 6" modern stove doesn't work that great on 8", so if you have any thoughts of switching...

This thread has gone off the rails... I'll be buying double wall class A. Just wanted to know what some of you guys recommend that have been burning wood a lot longer than me. In my old house I had Champion, good stuff, but very expensive. If i can save a buck without sacrificing quality, I'd like to do that... in anyone's opinion, is that possible?

 

You can't go wrong with either supervent or duravent. I use duravent because the price was right from a friend that was moving.
Whichever is cheaper overall and it will treat you well. I have had no issues and I need to remove a section when I sweep. It's held up to that so far.

Yeah, really. One guy posted something about running pipe out of HIS window, someone mentioned single wall pipes that weren't class A were mentioned. I mean usually I don't care if someone steals the thread, but I just wanted suggestions on if people thought it was a mistake to go cheap or do I need to spend top dollar. I guess Supervent was recommended, and in the Class A Double Wall Chimney pipe world it's cheap. I don't know, aside from the suggestion to go to Menards, I didn't get too many opinions...

Nah, don't worry about it... I think I'm going to go with the Supervent. I wish this stuff was not so expensive and I wasn't so cheap...

 

I second your opinion on cost. It is very expensive imo. The best you can do for a good price is shop around, check amazon I am pretty sure their wall standoff/support was cheaper than anyone elses asking price, aka local brick stores. Can't recall if the sections were or not.
Check the marketplace and craigslist, you might find someone offloading used stuff that is in great shape, usually it is.

 

Supervent is expensive? I'm not saying its the cheapest out there, but I do think it is the cheapest of the stuff out there that is of reasonable quality. Yes, there is better out there, but at 2-4 x the cost too. My personal opinion after using it is that the SV is best bang for the buck for sure.

 

We have a lil amish metal shop near here that makes SS stove and chimney pipe...they are VERY reasonable on the price of the stove pipe, but their chimney pipe is just as much, maybe a lil more than SV from Menards, especially when on sale.

 

Relative to all Chimney pipe, Supervent is definitely reasonable... I'm glad to hear you say you like it and would recommend it. Will any double wall stove pipe hook up to the Supervent chimney?
