With the recent spike in BW threads poking fun at how "highly valuable" they are i decided to call the guy from my "close encounter" thread. I asked what he wants for them (he didnt have a number on Saturday) and that id be interested in the smaller log for now. He didnt quote and will get back to me with numbers. (i hope)

So what do you think FHC? How much will he quote for the smaller log and for both? A couple members had already thrown numbers out in the other thread. Winner or closest without going over wins a free ride in the corporate helicopter.

I know I said a grand per log but I'm thinking that guy might be starting to get sick of seeing them, possibly considering cutting you a deal... $750/each and YOU load.

Smaller log I’m going to guess $775. :binoculars:

$1400 for the one in the weeds.

I have two face cords of BW that I plan on listing once it reaches 15% moisture. Just for fun, plan on $300 a FC. Currently have all my wood listed at $275, so not a big stretch.

Black walnut supposedly makes pretty colored flames due to the iodine in the wood. Might be a good selling point.

    Remember…

This is not what YOU think or what it’s actually worth…

it’s what the landowner thinks they are worth as a hoarder.

    My guess is 2

    2-much that is.

My bet is it rots there or becomes firewood.

I see what appears to be the remnants of a tree stand to the left of the log. Perhaps it was attached to the tree. Metal?

There’s still one nice “veneer grade” :) Tulip log in Glastonbury. A can of Minwax Black Walnut and you’re in business :)

Guessing cutting them down wasn’t his idea. Probably either municipal or utility work, I’m guessing. If so, he may not have had the time to research potential buyers besides Craigslist or Facebook, which automatically rules out most people who would be serious about buying them or know their true value. If it’s a you load kinda deal, I wouldn’t offer him more than $300 for both logs. If he doesn’t bite on that, I’ll bet they rot before they sell. My buddy has always struggled to find a “serious” buyer for walnut trees that he brings home from removals. Ends up letting them go for Pennies.
