I like a lot of things about summer, but fall through April is my favorite time of the year. Looking forward to it! It stays warm inside even at -30f.
It was 51 at the garden thermometer in the west metro, and 41f at the cook county airport this morning. We had a run of mid 30s up there a few weeks ago. I don’t mind if we ease into the below freezing temps at my garden here at home, as I have a lot more tomatoes on the vine to make into sauce. Up north at my gardens I have carrots and potatoes in the ground and they won’t be harvested until late October. The winter squash can just sit there on the ground hardening up until early October.
Had 38 here, frost advisory close by. It would have been nice to be hugging a hot stove this morning.
Now does that ever sound good . Sure wish we were going to the Northwoods with our camper in September!! However since we no longer have our GSP guess we’ll just have to stay here and sweat
We're going back to wood and replacing our pellet stove (no furnace), and the cooling is too fast here, lows in the 40's for a week or more and I'd guess last night and another night last week in 30's. Eeeks, not ready, new wood stove not installed yet but needing the pellet stove in the mornings to warm the house up. Sorry about your GSP, we have a Giant Pointing Griffon that looks almost the same except for long head hair and a beard. I still miss all our dogs that have passed, I've not slept without a dog since 1986. This Griffon stays with my husband out here the nights he sleeps in the recliner
We have had temps in the 60's & 70" rain or shine for the last week or more. Looks like no big heat coming, good working weather now.
Hard to dry wood in this rainy pattern were having. No problem with my cord wood, 3 yrs. dry under top over. It's the wood for camp, I don't have any real storage area (yet) under cover for the camp wood to stay out of the deluge that doesn't seem to end here. Other areas might have political signs out, here in the northwestern NH/ North East Vermont, signs say" Noah was right!"
Thank You. We get FB posts from the GSP SE Rescue group and it’s very tempting to adopt a GSP. With both of us at 72 however it may not be fair to the dog to not give it the amount of exercise it needs and I’m not sure it’s fair to not outlive our furry buddy and have them need to be re-homed
Several nights in the low to mid-forties (still have all the windows open), some of the swamp maples are already starting to turn colors, and bear season starts in four days. Going into the best time of the year.
