What would be considered the smoothest height and aggressive raker height for each of 50cc saw and ported 75cc+ saw
A lot of variables there....... .025 is a good start, but if you have to push on the saw then go lower. Don't file the rakers flat, keep them curved will help smooth cutting
I tend to run about .030. When cutting firewood, it's not a race for time. It's something I enjoy. For GTG'S, I will likely outsource Unit I get good enough to compete it these guys! (May not ever happen) So listen to the Pro's.
My chains are set 35 / 60 and before I even run them I make two passes with the hand file over the rakers. They run smooth and fast while maintaining the long tooth life.
I run high rakers compared to most. .022-025" for the most part. Change the hook on round filed or the side and underneath angle on square to get more bite. You should be able to get a smooth cutting chain that will pull itself through the wood with no pressure.

Honestly I'm good enough I do it by eye and feel on my chains. The two passes is the beginning before it's even used on a saw. That's pretty easy for starters. On customer chains I use a guide just to be safe...
@Kg461 I painfully skimmed your similar topic on AS. You said RSF square filed I think, No need for skip with your 461. If your going to use skip in small wood your rakers are going to need to be lower but wont be smooth. If you are filing with a bevel edge file, are you getting a good corner to corner edge? Your side plate should be somewhat close to 90 degrees perpendicular to the tie straps. Hope this helps
Yes I filed on corner with a 6 sided Vallorbe. Its sharp. The whole problem with that thread is no input other than criticisms. The problem with the 4 stroke is Randy drilled the main jet out and its processing a tremendous amount of fuel even at 14200. The saw just needs big wood to clean up in the cut as Randy didnt recommend tuning over 14200. That thread was to try and learn alil something on loading a saw by chain, sprockets, different sharpenings. As u can see what crap over there always turns into!! Lol!! What always happens over there is most guys think their too professional to answer the simple questions rookies have. Only critisize and try and make u look bad! pizz on them! Thats why im here asking questions . I listen to people who know and I accept constructive criticisms
