Pictures are very deceiving. Thought this to be 30" diameter max in the pics but was 41" at the stump end. Stopped after work to investigate. Tree guys bucked 36" sections but didnt cut all the way through. NOT FOR ME. Too bad as its close to home. Maybe if buzz-saw was interested in helping? Whaddaya say buddy? How's your hernia these days? Homeowner keeping all the limb wood, just didnt want this.
Nice piece of ash right there. Looking at those growth rings, it grew pretty fast. Either way, that tree has seen some seasons.
Cant roll it to finish cuts and just getting those big sections on and off the PU knock the chit out of me. Noodling/sectioning etc. Had the gnarly top end been cut free i might consider or if the log was slightly elevated. That would be the biggest ive ever cut. 39" my current record.
Brad, to roll it are you sure you can't thread an eye bolt into it, hook a chain to it and give it a good yank with the Ford? That's a lot of work no matter how you go about it.
I probably could but yes lots of work. Thought of that oak at your neighbors and what a PITA that was with little results. Looking back i wouldve gone about working it different.
I almost brought up that red oak myself, but it haunts me enough as it is. Maybe this spring I'll focus on that instead of trying to bring home 27 truckloads of dead oak from 30 miles away like I did this year
Hey the tree's only been down for 3 years, and it's only been 2 years and 3 months since we worked on it. I take full responsibility for the inaction. For some reason it's more fun scrounging than going after the scores closest to home
LOL!!! No shelf queen here. Sawing isnt the problem, just dont feel like killing myself trying to move the log!
Oh c’mon if it was down a hill on the side of the highway covered in briars, brambles and poison ivy you’d go after it. Never seen green manicured grass before?
You know I would give you a hand if you wanted to tackle it ! I have the 661 if needed. My only issue is time this week and I am in Boston this weekend. Let me know what you are thinking.
I wouldn’t know, but it seems like it would be challenging to get your bar all the way in an ash that big. Brad you’re always mentioning your past experience with big ash, so you should know how to easily roll one over.
In that scenario, he would just throw a cookie on the floor and that fat ash would roll right over!! Ask me how I know!!
