Put a 60' red maple out of its misery last evening....it was a dying tree, very few leaves and it was on its way out......made quick work, after climbing and branching it on the driveway side, made a mat out of the big branches and dropped it whole.......In, out and cleaned up in just over three hours.....
Just about all the Maple I have are Red. That's a lot of branch work. Dries quick, and burns nice. Gonna' keep it?
nope......already got rid of it. Gas money. Lol I love burning it too, was gonna keep it but had an offer and BAM....SOLD.
It was a foot away from the fence and around 2' from the garage, with the majority of the weight hanging over the garage. Had to rig it high and pull it to get it over where we wanted it. As usual, I used the trusty bore-cut procedure. I love to use the bore-cut method whenever I can.
HEEERRREEEE WE GO....................! I can smell the wood smoke now. Soon be time to fire up and then run outside and watch the smoke roll out for the first time.
And here I thought you were gonna take a ride down south and drop it in my driveway.. Geez.. I'll tell ya.. If I still lived in State College I'd have you on speed dial.
Wish you still lived up this way, we'd have you over some evening for some pit food....and load you up with some wood to take home!
If it hadn't been 10:30 at night, I would have been out doing just that last night. Uh, except for the running part.
His wood pile is nearing the size of the Death Star!! Title of this thread got me thinking... I have a small red maple I'll probably tip over this fall, to clear the way for a couple standing dead maples to come down. The deer on my property might appreciate a nice supper of some red maple buds, ya think? Might have to drop that one a week or so ahead of shotgun season...
