That's just fine with me. Along as I don't see none of 'dat white chit.

Been pretty hot down this way, and tomorrow & Tuesday are going to be scorchers. Got my latest tractor flip all cleaned-up yesterday while it was nice out. Bought another golf cart to flip too.......got a lot of work done on that too. I'll be chilling in the a/c the next few days.

Me just stay inside and mop up my soup with bread.

To buy or not to buy? I'm having a real difficult time this year deciding whether or not I should buy pellets. The best price I can get is at HD at 369/ton with a new limit of 4 tons per delivery charge. My situation is this - I love the wood pellets but it has to be a wise financial decision to buy them. I have about 5 tons left over from last season which are nice and dry stored inside. I heat with an LG Red whole house ducted air source heat pump, which I have seen crank out serious heat well below 0. I have a large solar array on my roof and will be entering the season with ~5000 kwh banked, plus the little bit its going to make over the winter season. My inclination is not to buy this year, use the heat pump for the entire season and augement with real low settings on the stove, saving about 1 ton in case theres no power. My generator will run the stove but not the heat pump. What to you guys think? is 350+ the new price standard on pellets or is this an anomaly? if you were me would you use pellets anyway?

    Thanks for any input!

Use whatever is cheaper IMHO. Or maybe as much heat pump as possible and mix in pellets when you want or have too. That's sort of my plan with 2 tons left over and oil being near the same overall cost. Plus less cleaning and filling and stacking and and and! :D

I'll burn oil until I need the wood heat feel or on the very drafty days. If it ain't gonna save me any $$ why even bother! A bit sad, But it is what it is!

I too have 5-6 tons left. Electric rate has gone down dramatically since last year, and I should have enough solar credits to see me thru the winter. Last year with electric rates way up there, I chose to heat with pellets from fall thru spring. This year I am planning on using the mini split at least thru the fall shoulder season (we'll see what the rate adjustment for electricity is in January to determine what I do for spring). So, I am not buying any pellets.

As for the $350/ton price? I think it is the new norm. We can only hope that, unlike last season, some sales happen in the spring.

Yeah, pretty much everything stops here when the first flakes appear. Kids here can't wait for sn*w....LOL. But.....haven't seen any for past 2 winters. Fingers crossed.

We've got a week of below 80's forecast and some chilly September type nights. We may dip to low 40's Wednesday night.
