I remember seeing an episode of bizarre foods where he ate rat...free range. I seldom watched the show as it grossed me out.
Trie Tried that with grey squirrel a long time ago (the pic is from around 1993). Looked great on the rotisserie but they hadn't cooked on the inside, so I'll stick with the crock pot.
Looks like I have some extra work to do. That's the most recent leveled and filled rack. Grrrr... I suspect gravity had an assist. I've never seen a block like that crack. I won't know more until I pull all the splits away and see what, if anything, there's to see underneath.
Yeah, it's some work, but it gets you out there to do some evaluating and exercise.... Do you occasionally "bump" your stacks? As the stacks season. they settle and sometimes develop a lean.....I like to take a heavier split and go along the stacks to "bump" them into plumbness again......I do this around every 2 months or whenever it's required.
If I notice a stack beginning a slow lean, I'll use a small sledge hammer and tap splits back in line.
Too much weight on that block Mike! Stack is too heavy! Wasnt there some seismic activity in Worchester county? I know when we get earthquakes down here some of my stacks topple!
Yep, it counts. We had a shed full of skinnies that was leaning bad. I took our wooden box on the forks and pushed it back straight, then added more stacks in front.
This morning was "what the F happened" time. I moved all the remaining wood. At the edge of the broken block was a small hole. There was also an amount of dirt up against the edge of the block that I didn't put there. You can kinda see it against the outside edge of the 2x4. When I removed the block, there was another hole. The excavated dirt can be seen above. With a stick, I moved the top layer of dirt to expose a small Critter run. Voles, I suspect. I'll leave the repairs and stacking for another day when it's cooler, less muggy.
