Cherry everywhere, well not everywhere (sounds like a Polka). Been driving by these to and from the job with no time or energy after work to stop and cut. Cherry here. Couple minutes from the job. Recent blowover hastily sectioned up. Left the nuglies and plenty of cherry kindling for the next hoarder. Half load. Cherry there. 20 minutes up the road. Fresh state cutting. Looked smaller as i drove by. 400 made a few cuts and rain started. Bucked the biggest log. I was worried about hitting barbed wire as it looks like an old field edge tree, but none found with the saw. Ill be back soon as i have a few days at this job yet and some decent wood still "there"!
Yes and yes. Nice splits will go for bundlewood too. I have 75% of a half cord stack of cherry from February and the seconds will top it off. (gotta move the mulberry occupying that space though) I have a couple half cords ...one from last Summer and the other from Winter. Ill try to get a premium for them. Those big rounds had no twist to them. As you know hit of miss if its twisty grained.
Poison ivy vine on that one log? I'm not that sensitive to it, but nervous about the smoke if burning pieces outside like in a fire pit that have had poison ivy on it. Don't care if in closed stove.
Gotta appreciate that cherry - smells good, splits easy enough, light to lift (generally dry), looks good/pretty, smokin' fish over cherry is definitely acceptable and the stuff is usually all over the place. I place pin cherry somewheres between red oak and soft maple. You got a good haul of it, nice!
PI is kind of a given in roadside scrounges. I knock it off there for the most part. There was dead and alive vines on the logs. I usually get a mild case of it yearly during the warm weather. Havent yet this year that im aware of. Hoping to get back "there" again soon.
Gonna have to have buzz-saw post pics then as he has the smoker. I have a bunch of both woods to give him. Funny thing i cut some mulberry last Thursday.
Mulberry is my favorite BBQ, mostly since i've not had any for a while... Gonna try Kentucky Coffee wood soon.
Is that right next to the post office there? That second part of the score "there" was WB on 66 in Columbia. If the rest is missing when i go back im coming to your place looking for it. EDIT: now i remember it. Farther up on the right. Maybe ill stop in and ask, You know the owner/manager?
Yeah. I think she’s there most days (daytime hours). Her names Bonnie. Just ask for Bonnie. I just saw a FB post from her inquiring of a tree company if they had any “fruit wood” Columbia ya say? Hmm
Split some today. Before. After Topped off a half cord. Some went next door for bundles along with some black birch i split as well.
I hope to burn some sticks in it this weekend. I will make it a point to get some pictures. I will let you know, and you can either pick up or I can deliver. Need to check schedule to see what day looks better as far as weather and schedule for work.
I don’t have any “fruit wood”. Stop by and see if she can become a customer. They smoke all their wings and a few other things on the menu. I imagine that takes a bit of wood. For smoking you need bark removed right? Thought I read that.
