    What do we have here? Came down at a friends place, said I’d clean it up and take wood for him. Never seen one around my property. Some type of locust? Bark is similar but just a bit off from all locust I’ve seen before.

    Here's another tool for anyone interested. If you have an iPhone you can use leaf pictures to get you in the ballpark anyway, without an app. It's not perfect (but neither is any app)

    In this particular case the iPhone is half-right. The plant pictured is a hybrid American X Chinese chestnut I planted in my backyard. So, pretty close anyway.
