My Tree cutting buddy just dropped off this load of Oak and I wasn't even home. I'm guessing a possible 2 cord. This load will fill the rest of the three year mark. Hopefully, I'll never see this wood burn't if all goes well.
That’s a pretty great friend! I’m a little slow sometimes…what do you mean you hope you’ll never burn this wood?
That's fine; I have land in New Hampshire and planning on building a home up there and moving from the Communist, Socialist, Republic of New Jersey. Going to the "Live free or die" state! where the TAX Nazi's and some others are not. This pile will fulfill my three year mark for seasoned wood, meaning I would normally burn this load in winter, 2026.
Ahhh got it—thanks. Good to stockpile, in case the transition takes longer than expected. Is there anything you’ll miss about NJ? It seems like you’ve got access to pretty amazing food? And the beaches are underrated IMO. I love NH and have spent a lot of time there—-tons of time hiking the White Mtns, skiing, I even saw my first thong bikini at Hampton Beach!
I'll try to make this short, and NOT political! I was born and raised on the water, spent 19 years in the Coast Guard, 8 years in the US Navy, my whole family consisted Fisherman from 4 Countries. It's time for me to see some Country and move off the beach where people are not (AFRAID) of seeing a gun, I don't have to be told what to say, I can pee anywhere in my yard in daylight, I can burn my wood stove without someone complaining that I'm killing the planet, I don't/won't have NOSEY neighbors, I'm not TAXED for flushing my toilet, and it doesn't take me 12 minutes to read the RULES sign when I go to the beach because the Communists have made laws for everything you can think of, basically it's (Shut up, sit down, get a sun burn and leave) Oh, and by the way, that beach tag is $25.00 Yeah, Time to leave New Jersey.
It's really a barter/trade type thing. I've known the man since we were kids, he has a tree business. He "must by law" here in this communist state, DUMP his wood and pay to dump it, if he sell's it, he must declare taxes on the profits, (norm) OK. But for him to re stack it and sell it, it doesn't pay him to tie up a truck and store the wood. Now, with that said, he dumps what I need here and when his guys break, twist or bend up a trailer or something I weld it of fix it if I can here. If it's too big, I send him to one of our other friends. It all works out each way. Not to mention, a bottle of Good Scotch or Vodka goes a long way. If it's his guys that drop it off, they always get a case of Beer!
Hey, ahhhh, NH definitely finds its ways of getting its cut. Though, probably not as bad as NJ. I am happy to report that I pee wherever I want, cut whatever I want, burn whatever I want, and my neighbor is my best friend. You'll enjoy!
Oh, I'm WELL aware of that! And, I'm very close to you also so I got the tour. But, understand every time I go to the store, (for anything except food), I'm taxed. I've done my research and understand the catches, but as you said, It's not like NJ!
The yard sign that was about 10 feet left of where that pickup is parked a few months ago is gone. I figure one of 3 things: It was stolen. It was taken down for mowing. You have changed your opinion on that person. I figure the third option is highly unlikely.
Thank's FarmerJ, I've been taking things up on a trailer a little at a time. I have 2 shipping containers on the land I purchased. This way, I save on putting stuff in storage while the house is being built and I own the containers,
I told him I didn't need any more yesterday. Dennis, winters are very unpredictable here. We've had winters with 40º and 50º, no snow and even day's sunny at 60º. Then we'll get winters like Michigan, wet cold, blowing and snowy. I can't get caught with my pant's down per say I don't know what's gonna happen. With that said, I only had this years (seasoned) wood left. I/we don't know what the future holds, I'm praying for the best but I plan for the worst. The worst can happen is, somebody who buy's this place will get a couple years of free wood.
Congratulations on the oak and good luck with your upcoming move. Being in Nebraska, we have a little idea about the reason you want to move on to a new life.
Simply put like this, (FREEDOM), peace and quiet! I live in a resort town, we go from 20,000 people in the winter to over 1 MILLION in the summer! I won't get into politics but this state is "NOT" my flavor and for me, it's getting MUCH worse, not to mention New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the Nation.
