Local guy on FB was selling 2 cords of firewood for..... $150 delivered. Yes, you read that correct.

I pride myself in cutting all of the 7-8 cords I burn a year, but heck... at that price I figured why not. My dump trailer holds 1.8 cords, I was going to use that to know what I was getting. He offered delivery so I said heck with it, come over.

16ft trailer, I could tell it was going to be a little short when he pulled in. I stacked it up tonight, yep.. you guessed it. 1 cord on the dot.

If its too good to be true, it probably is. FWIW, I was selling a cord for more than $150 15 years ago.

I hope it was decent wood.

Contact the guy and let him know. Does FBM have a review/comment area?

That is just a bit too much short to let slide.

I told him yesterday I wanted a load for my in laws and he could bring another here next week. He will message me mid week asking me when I want it and I'll let him know.

I honestly dont think he did it on purpose, I can tell the wood is bulk piled and moved with a loader from the crumbs that were on it.

You can rate the seller after purchase and I believe possibly add comments.

Need to get the rest of your wood, since he advertised 2 cord/$150...still not a bad price for what you got.

I'd sell 2 for 450. Hes still considerably less, even at half the amount.

I never buy wood, felt dirty doing it too. For what he advertised, that's even less than cordwood off of a log truck. Figured I couldnt lose.

At least when you do your own firewood you don't have to deal with getting shorted. The last cord I bought measured up to be .8 cord. I didn't pursue the issue as I knew I wasn't ever using him again and ended up cutting my own from that time forward. I had cut some/bought some to that point but decided it was time to take it to the next level.

A couple I did tree work for complained about paying $275 for 2 cords. They know I sell firewood and I was hoping they would not ask to buy from me since they were disgruntled about paying $275 for 2 cord. I let them know they were getting a deal even if it wasn’t dry, or a full 2 cord.

Absolutley. I have a process. Its methodical. Its important for me to know how much I have going into the year, and how much I consume. Never any oops moments in late March that way.

When I sold wood, I'd have people think that I brought extra. I remember a lady saying "Your 1/3 is more than the 1/3 I got from the other guy last year." Yep, I just delivered what I said I would, it wasnt a guess when I measured it lol.

    [IMG] Except.............not this time!

The mere fact that the guy advertised 2 and you only got 1 emphasizes the point that you need to inform him. :handshake:

I'm thinking he measured his trailer and came up with 2 cu ft of space.....then just dumped wood into that space?

Let us know about the follow up please.

Nothing wrong with buying firewood when it is priced right. It would cost me at least $50 in beer to split and stack a cord plus fuel and wear and tear on my equipment. My 18' trailer holds exactly 1 cord stacked tightly to the top of the rails. My Summer price is $795 a cord and $840 for Winter. B46A65CA-B20C-4098-9A0B-531E04A4BE66_1_201_a.jpeg

I hold my cash until it’s done.

the cord of wood I’ve sold this year has only been by word of mouth from friends/ family telling people I’m selling wood.

I’ve taken pictures of the wood stack before and after loading showing them what they are getting.

I usually include a picture of my trailer or truck loaded in my advertisements. A lot of first time customers don't know how much a face cord or cord of firewood amounts to.

Am I reading that right, 795 a cord? And people pay that? Good for you if so! Wow, crazy how different prices are regionally. Around me a cord can be had for 210 on the low side for green and 300 for good dry stuff.
