    Crazy isn't it.
I drove by this past week a couple times and just scratched my head, why do all that work and just let it turn to crap like that.
At least get a cheap push mower and run it over to keep it knocked down.

I’ll take a stab at it. Havent had much of it. It can split like butter or it can be a twisted mess. The stuff I’ve had was pretty decent but it works the splitter a little more than red oak,,,,,so not too bad. I’ve seen corkscrewed trees that look like they’d be much harder to split.
Sort of like Black Birch if you’ve ever had some bigger specimens.

I am not. I left the gnarlier chunks there. Had room for more obviously but was beat and it was later then i had planned. Not too happy about the nuggets but had to have sum beech.

As a general rule it splits easy occasionally with some stringiness. This has some minor twist to the grain.
Now with a hydro i dont worry. Great firewood...better than oak and dries in a year.

Looks like the house is vacant. Thought maybe a flipper had bought it.

I noticed all the ends are covered with fungus already...WTH? Most of those were fresh cut ends ten days ago and that stack gets some good sunlight. IMG_3699.JPG I split three this afternoon and nice and straight.

Surprised that stem wasn't hollow. I have some big ones. Most of them are coon dens.
