While working my honey (locust) hole last weekend I started to wonder, and yes, it gets me in trouble. Is the wood grade scale equal? In other words, is an ugly split of soft maple the same as locust?

No, ugly locust is better than nice soft maple, especially in deep winter. Each has it's place, though.

Ill take the HL ugly. I have a bin specific for BL nuggets. Another for multi year drying nuggets. Oak, hickory, honey locust etc.

I have a one cord bin of such i filled Summer Fall 2020. HL, BL, sugar maple mostly. One lucky customer getting that later this year.

I had cut and fit the rest of the roof last week but forgot to take pics. With seven different colors its definitely a calico roof. The red sheet was damaged so cut to fill in as needed IMG_3622.JPG IMG_3623.JPG Worked on the rake overhang late this afternoon. Blocks cut and installed plus strapping cut to length. IMG_3618.JPG IMG_3619.JPG IMG_3620.JPG IMG_3621.JPG Just have to back screw the metal and some trim work. I was hoping to have more wood in it by now.

Roof not visible unless your a bird. Woods behind it and no neighbors.

Few holes in some of the panels from bending damage and old screw holes. Ill silicone as i go. Wanna run a bead under the laps too.

Finished all the carpentry today. :banana:Back fascia is some reclaimed 1x6 pine from a recent demo. Rake trim the same weathered cedar decking as front fascia. Only thing left is to back screw the roofing.
That 2x4 sticking out is temporary to tie the end wall to the center and will either be removed or cut off. IMG_3629.JPG IMG_3630.JPG IMG_3632.JPG IMG_3633.JPG IMG_3635.JPG
I wanted to remove the T-111 siding on back of the enclosed shed for better air flow so started in until i got stung by, of all things, a bumblebee. First for me. I could hear the nest buzzing faintly through the window opening after and decided to call it quits. IMG_3634.JPG Now to score some decent bundle quality wood to fill it up.
Im thinking of redoing the old "shed" to match the new build once its empty of splits. Badly sagging floor as its only supported on the corners. If anything it'd be next Winter/Spring. IMG_3631.JPG

Thanks Dave. Id like to get an actual cost for the material if i had to pay full price for it.

Learned not to use the cedar for stack end supports. Discovered a broken half cord rack yesterday. Cedar not strong enough. Popped off the screws.:hair:
