thewoodlands I got lots of experience fixing drives my 1/4 mile would wash out with every 1/2 inch of rain. Re did my drive, started in 2020 with fabric drainage and base material. Another 200 tons of top coat in 2021, before surgery..

it’s not finished yet:emb: still need 50 more tons and 20 foot pipe to finish BUT it’s at a point where it’s manageable for wife for WHEN something happens to me

I got such great neighbors/friends helping them out is a privilege. They treat me great, I try to reciprocate.

entire state is under a flood watch

    From NOAA.

Conditions will be favorable for strong to locally severe thunderstorms on Friday across the North Country. The primary threats will be localized very heavy rainfall, isolated downburst winds up to 60 mph, and a few hail stones up to 1 inch in diameter. Below is a map timing the expected onset of the thunderstorms on Friday.

Attention: US Rt 4 in the area of Mission Farm Rd is closed to both East and West bound traffic due to a mud slide and standing water.

East Mountain Rd is also closed to traffic at this time.

The pictures are from the Killington Police Department in Vermont.

Northern part of the state was under a flood watch last night. But that system missed south of the White Mountains I think, besides a few isolated popups. Next up is Sunday-Monday storms that could produce heavy rains.

More than 6 inches of rain possible from Pennsylvania to Maine
High amounts of moisture available in the atmosphere will make this upcoming weather system a very efficient producer of torrential downpours, AccuWeather meteorologists say.

"Rainfall rates could reach 2 inches per hour in some locations as the system slowly moves," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Adam Douty said. "Infrastructure in the metro areas may not be able to handle rainfall of this magnitude, and as a result, rising water could quickly inundate some locations."

"Widespread rainfall totals of 2-4 inches are forecast across the Northeast with an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 10 inches," DaSilva said.

The historical average rainfall for the entire month of July is generally between 3 to 4.50 inches for the major cities across the Northeast. During this event, some locations could pick up that entire amount or even double, and it may fall within the span of hours.

We didn't get anything here, storms that were coming from the west just fizzled out before they reached us.

Hopefully your family is fine, it looks like a chit load of rain is coming to the east, stay safe.

    Family is fine..
just odd to comprehend flooding at 4,000 feet elevation. The streams coming off mountains are what’s washing out. To any skiers the section of route 4 closed is where the gondolas for Killington crosses route 4 probably 4 miles up hill of long trail brewery in Bridgewater VT

My county had flash flood warnings last night. Had a line of storms come thru shortly before 8pm that were pretty intense. The FFW started just prior to that line hitting and went thru 9:45 pm. Then it got extended to 11pm.

The rain would be intense for a couple of minutes, then let off for a couple, then back on, then back on, etc. Not enough to keep me from sleeping well. Also, didn't bring the temp down - was hoping to open some windows overnight.

I do not like that. I've had enough of the humidity.

We have some thunder boomers going on south of us but still no rain, I think they're calling for just under half an inch for our area.

After I hit post, the rain started, it just started coming down harder. I'm glad the mower was set close to the lowest setting.

It's just spitting rain out at the moment, I'm sure we'll get some heavier rains but nothing like their forecasting in some places.

I'm not sure where you live in Vermont but Lowville NY and Croghan NY received 2 to 4 inches in one hour.
