    Did you feel something hit you in the back of the head on the way out ? That was your change. I think the price list should say tire change $10.00, tire change with new stems $12.00.

    That makes total sense, good catch. I think the man made the list and the woman is misinterpreting it. Or he dictated it and she typed it wrong. It was typed. I will go there when I am in that town again and find out.

    As for 50hp, heck, it's just a typo. 50 inch.

    Did you think 50hp was a bit excessive for a lawnmower? One could probably mow fields of bamboo with that machine :rofl: :lol:

    Nailed it.
    Shops buy valve stems in bulk...seems that most "normal" rubber valve stems run about $0.25 to $0.35 each when buying in bulk. So even if they only charge $2 for it, that's still pretty good markup! $12 would be :faint:

    I thought maybe it was a mower deck mounted on a 50 hp tractor.......

    Hell.. I'd run a 50HP mower.
    :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

    It'd cut down the time as quickly as the grass.
    :cool:

    Of course.. with all the little dips n doodles in this yard, I'd probably be thrown like it was a mechanical bull.

    If they were of a quality where the brass core didn't separate from the vulcanized rubber in the middle of no-where Montana, I'd say it's worth it.

    But, I'm biased...and a bit jaded.

    At least you had one of the easiest bikes there is to get the rear wheel off of!

    I thought of this thread today. We had a breezy day so I decided I would get the splitter out but the tire was flat, valve stem leaking. Ran to True Value, two for 2.75.
    Got it fixed and ended up pulling both sides and packing the bearings with grease.

    So I decided to drag the splitter out again. Well what's the chances, the valve stem on the other side was leaking. Guess I should have just swapped it when I had the wheel off to pack the bearings. What was worse is I couldn't find my valve core tool to get all the air out so had to run to town.

    just a fyi, I've bought my own metal valve stems and have taken them with me when I have tires mounted. So far no one has said no to using my valve stems.
