Lol, I'll run anything at a GTG. Now owning is a different story. I like my stuff to be reliable, start every time and cut like a light saber. That kinda rules out Steel. You guys know I'm just having fun. I'd not hesitate to recommend Echo. Lots of guys on this forum have great feedback and experience with them. T.Jeff's XS ported saw ran great. As did Mikes MasterMind ported top handle Stihl. Thing is, IMO, those brands need ported to keep up with Husky.
Another plus for Echo (if it fits your time schedule and your local participates) is their one day, 15% off sale. The last one I bought was OTD for less than original asking price. There were some fuel filters and a wedge on the bill also...still under MSRP OTD. Can save around $90 on the 620. $510 for a good 60cc saw is a hell of a bargain IMO. If they can keep their resonable pricing, I see them eating a good portion of Husk & Stihl sales in the near future. The only area they lack in is pro faller saws...which I'm sure someone out there is throwing down lots of wood with the 7310. U.S. fallers want 80 & 90cc options which Echo has chosen not to offer...yet? One Day Sale | ECHO-USA.com
Not sure why (guessing emissions) but they just stopped selling the 80cc saws. I have 2 a cs8000 and a cs8000p and a buddy has a cs800. All dead nuts reliable.
I consider these to be workhorse saws, suitable for milling operations. Weight and chain speed keep them from being used by fallers for the most part I think. I'd like to see them target the 661/395. Be interesting to see their version of a 90cc saw.
The cs1201 is 116cc. I have a 661rcm and have run it side by side with my 8000's and the difference in cut speed is NOT staggering. Really like the echos manual assist oiler. The Stihl never inspires confidence in oiling ability.
I knew someone would know about those saws. That thing was competition for the Contra. I want to see their modern version. I also would love to squeeze off a few rounds with the 1201 for 'scientific' purposes.
Few years back an Echo rep was at the OPE dealer i was doing business with at the time. Had a nice chat with him. They were having a one day sale on anything Echo. Kinda wish id bought a 2511 top handle.
Only husky I’ve got is a 48v24 riding mower. can’t say it’s been a bad purchase considering I got it in 2012 and it’s now got 323 hours on the machine.
My 2 cents for 24" bar, I'd go 60-70 cc range, pro saw Closer 70 cc stock Closer 60 cc ported My personal experience is mostly with Stihl. Yes, my Tree Monkey ported MS361 (60 cc) runs a 24" bar fine, but is better with 20". My MMWS 461 (76.5 cc) runs 24" better and will pull anything up to 36". I'd think an MS462 (72.2 cc) would be perfect for a 24" bar.
Actually it was nice weather in PA. I had to run a husky, so I could appreciate the Stihls and Echos more...
I have a chance to get a Stihl 440 with a 24" bar for asking price of $400. It looks clean. Seems a little high to me??
Depends on how clean. If the bottom and front paint are more than 50%, that’s cheap. If they’re more than 75% it’s really cheap
