I have no disdain towards you Dave, it's the political content that goes against forum rules. I'll call it out on either side (I hate both..).

I get triggered when I hear people say they've been triggered by ________. Fill in the blank.

You know what gets me triggered? Knowing there is no other place left to go once we get to where we're heading.

Thanks Skier76 for providing the press release. My takeaways from reading it:
    - It has nothing to do with personal gardens or professional farms. They’re not coming’ for your cukes.
    - It is not mandatory.
    - It only pertains to community gardens. What’s not to love about community gardens? The government is throwing some money towards elevating their awareness. At worst this initiative wastes taxpayer dollars and accomplishes nothing.

Government overreach is a problem, but this isn’t a good example of it. Isn’t that great? I’m sure we’re all on the same page now.

This probably will get no traction.. and may not survive a 24 hr test.

BUT.. many would object to anything that starts with "The peoples' " given the current state of affairs.. as well as the connotation to "The peoples' Republic of.."

We've not only disabled the borders, but are using taxpayer dollars to house migrants.

I am not averse to immigration, or anyone looking to come here to work.. quite the opposite, I say we should allow 2 workers access, as long as the country of departure accepts one welfare recipient.
    :handshake:

That would stabilize the current system, while encouraging workers to come here.

As to the garden issue.. there have been educational resources such as the..

    Cornell Cooperative Extension

For many decades. I'm certain that if they wish to continue to receive Gov't financing, they toe the line.

What incentive is really offered when one "registers" their garden??

I'm not a man who lies awake at night worrying about the Gov't coming to get my guns.. so tomatoes and radishes doesn't even factor into my thinking.

Would I register my garden.. not likely.. it's not "the peoples' " garden.. it's mine.

Although I'm not growing anything now.. the concept still applies.

You do realize 180 house reps voted to keep the power to ban gas stoves nationally right? That should be a little scary in and of itself.

Self reporting is much better. It tells them exactly where you stand,,,,or kneel. Who will submit, who will not.

How about this; Cook with FIRE! they did that for 1,000,000 years, Wood stove or Gas, Gas stoves have been around for about 200! Electric stoves, maybe 100+ years. I'll stick to my Gas stove. Own Guns, Drink Beer, :drunk: Go to Church, and all the rest of the Government can $HIT in their hat and pull it over their ears! Leave me the FVC_K alone! "Live FREE or Die"!

I disagree. I don't believe the point is to "get people riled up". The point is to share information and educate one another about what's going on in the world.

Today is literally the day we declared our independence thanks to the discussions, complaints, and ideas shared that took place in bars, churches, workplaces, and every other place where some "didn't want to hear it".

We should be discussing these things, we should be scrutinizing every part of government, we should be critical of our "elected" officials. These people and their programs should be under the public microscope constantly. I don't understand why they should inadvertently receive protection from our criticism under the guise of "maintaining civility" between those taking part in the discussion. Nobody is attacking anyone and we talk about many things beyond the topic of firewood...cars, music, drinks, cigars, etc.

We're all normal people trying our best and from time to time discussions are brought up that invoke curiosity in some and anger in others. I've never been interested enough in just being angry, but if something has that affect on me, I'm interested in knowing if it's something I can change. And if it isn't, I move on and know where my boundaries lay.

I don’t know about your area, but in mine I just went out for a 2 hour drive and didn’t see a single house with cars parked out front indicating anyone was having a 4th of July celebration. To me that’s pretty telling about morale…
