Another hour or so this afternoon. Cut rafters to finished lengths. Set more fascia and strapping. Fascia left long as i want to finish with a full width roof panel so the shed will have an overhang at the rake end.
Making progress, nice job, my friend. Why are you adding fascia boards? Just for appearance or protection of rafters ends? I might need to add some to the calico shed.
I had already had added one to the enclosed shed on the right and decided that was my ending/starting spot with the new build. Reclaimed cedar that has a nice patina and didnt get damaged when dismantled from the deck i took apart. So yes its for appearance. I have some reclaimed pine for the low end. May add a rain gutter if there is an issue with too much water. The stacked wood will make it easier to install strapping. I was walking on it yesterday.
Rain held off late afternoon and was able to get most of the strapping down. If i was smart id install the last two rafters first Dont have them yet. Strapping not attached at the far end. I hate to rip a couple 2x4's out of a 12' 2x10 i have. Had an audience. Just into the woods and strolled away when i got back there. Ive worked on wood stacks before but not literally! Next time ill trim the end and set lower fascia. Maybe even start the roof.
Looks like some other sheds I’ve seen No need to reinvent the wheel here! You guys both build some nice wood storage.
One is a tree stump and the others probably tossed into the woods...sometime, eventually i guess! Extreme interior rot with ant damage. There was a few others hanging around that were nice and hollow. Swedish torch fodder.
Spent some time there yesterday and late today. Ended up sacrificing a 2x10 for the two rafters i needed. Cut and finished the strapping. Brought over most of the metal roofing i had hanging around. This will be calico roof too T.Jeff Veal. Set most on top and weighted down for the time being. Hopefully no severe wind for the next week. Just gotta scrounge some roofing screws. Stacked wood has been covered...woohoo! After checking out the end i started thinking like Eric Wanderweg and planning for an addition! Im still undecided on lower fascia and can install if i opt to go that route. I have enough 1x6 for it.
Oh man, you are just asking for it now! If I tried that we'd have the storm of the century! Looking good though!
Well, its not on on but set the first piece for a layout then kept going. The only full length piece i had. Contractor friend has the screws for me but at his daughters place couple hours away so just waiting on that. They redid a huge barn and have leftovers. I think a piece or two of the roofing may have come from there.
