cops get a free ride still though. Just watched one driving down the road. made a right turn, no blinker, phone in left hand and went right for the left lane instead of staying in right lane and transition to left like one is supposed to.
I seriously doubt it was business and even if it was I really don't care, pull over.

I see drivers all the time using phones. The wifi and I were rear-ended memorial day weekend. I guarantee the guy was looking at his phone. He lived on the road where he hit us so he knew there was a stoplight on it. He had two small kids in carseats. Thank God they weren't hurt.

Yup! Take a look in the patrol cars and see all of the gadgets they have pointed directly at the drivers seat to be used. I have personally witnessed a number of state police yaking on their phones while driving......and usually driving over the speed limit to boot.

X2. Local cops who were supposed to be directing traffic at a construction site but their face was buried in the phone. :picard::hair:

While driving home from the PA GTG, I was on the Ohio Toll Road going 70 mph. I once looked to my left and was being passed. Right; a lady was alone in the car; had one hand on steering wheel and the other on her phone. Of course se was also looking at the phone rather than the road and traffic. Scary.

One of the main reasons we sold our Gold Wing when we turned 65. The PHONE ZOMBIES are capable of taking anybody out on the road, especially if you are on 2 wheels.

I notice it all the time around me. Just rode to Baltimore Thursday w/ a friend. When you are a passenger and can look more, you really see it.

I haven't had mine out in a while now, but I will probably never put a lot of miles on in any given year again, due to the phone issue. I can have just as much fun, or more, off roading on 2-3-4 wheels.
There has been so many times where you see people driving while screwing with their phones...I've often thought it would be nice if you could document and report them in some meaningful way...one idea I had was a "gun" of sorts...see someone texting/driving, "shoot" them, it would take a wide angle pic and "tag" their vehicle with some sort of high vis device that could only be removed by law enforcement, or the courts, after the pic was reviewed and ticket issued (or not, as warranted)...I know, maybe not practical, but man, something needs to be done!

We see it a lot on the highway back and forth from up north. The majority of the time, the person clogging the left line is talking on the phone or texting.

I told everyone that once I retired, I would be the guy driving slow in the left lane with my turn signal left on!

Back before 2015 when I would drive around 40 miles to work, I would see 2 out of 4 drivers on the phone and then here comes an oldtimer with the paper stretched across the steering wheel reading the paper while driving. That morning he was trusting the railroad crossing gate which was still up but that same gate came down on a UPS truck two or three years earlier.

This year while heading to the cemetery that same gate came down so I stopped, went right back up and then after I went through came back down but no train. My last trip by that gate it was fine.

Neat idea except when you go to pull the trigger for the picture, the nimrod pulls out the real thing and returns fire ..... and that wouldn't be a far fetched scenario in this day and age.

I have a phone for work and feel ridiculous but you'll see me switch back and forth, luckily I'm not salary so it's not out much off the clock!

    Driver's using them though:mad:
On my way home yesterday from a stressful and long day at work (and had to go back in later to open the building for a coworker) Culver's bacon cheeseburger and ice cream in hand I not one but 2 drivers at turn signals not paying attention (likely because of phones) the first one turned just in time to get through leaving me in the intersection at a red light.

That sometimes scares me more than the distracted drivers. The distracted drivers are doing something else. We end up passing a number of people who are parked at 63 in the left lane with a line of cars behind them. You pass them and both hands on the wheel and looking straight ahead. How do you not see your speed, the line of cars behind you or just know the basic rules of the road?

I might get some poop for this, but self driving cars on the highway would solve a lot of these issues.
