Made it there for an hour today. Installed the right side "header beam" PT 2x10 i scrounged from last weeks demo job. Should get the other in this week. I'll put some 2x6 diagonal braces in too.
LOL!!! The stacks have been listing forward as the afternoon sun has been drying them out so i used that block to push splits back.
buZZsaw BRAD Have you tried using 1-2 inch branches that would be 30 inches long and lay a few of them in the middle of the stacks across the rows? I have been using old 2x4's I have cut to 30 inches and they seem to tie the rows together.
Set the other header beam, set a few rafters and a couple diagonal braces. Dont know why this 2x6 had an American flag printed on it Made in the USA my guess? May get some work done there later. Oh, and i relocated the offensive 4x4 MikeInMa
Set the other three rafters i had on hand and attached all at the low point. Did the other two diagonal braces while it rained. Tempted to rip a couple 2x4's out of a used PT2x10 for the last two rafters. The other 2x6 had a flag as well. Rather appropo for June 14. I have fascia to work on and can set some roof strapping. That i have on hand.
Looks good, way to go on the recycling of lumber, really like the idea of filling the shed before you finish way to go keep us all informed of your progress. It puts my old wood shed to shame. I used finger jointed glued wood on mine. Cost, free for the taking, what could I say? lol. I’d like to have more of it now with the price of lumber what it is today.
Killed an hour or so on the build. Made blocks rather than use metal rafter ties and installed on the low ends of the rafters. Thanks for the tip brenndatomu. Forgot to take pics, but it did happen.
Did some fascia and a piece of roof strapping yesterday. I had set aside a couple nicer pieces with no damage for such. Reset the front rafter as they were out of square and it was bugging me.
