    How about this one. Im thinking Chestnut Oak. Its in a friends yard here in central Iowa. Ive not seen one in these parts before, but think i recognize it from posts ive seen here on FHC.[​IMG][​IMG]

    No, its healthy and makes nice shade for his yard. He was telling me about the many acorns it produces and that the squirrels just go nuts over them....

    If you ever get a chance to cut some, do it. My favorite oak aroma and it splits like cake. They are around here but a rare scrounge for me.

    I believe my buddy’s wife planted a bunch of Chestnut Oaks 3 years ago in a windbreak north of their new house. I will have to ask next time I there.
