Spent a good part of the day splitting all the rounds of BL (all barkless) i had on hand. Over two cords worth. These were cut late last year into the Winter. IMG_3395.JPG IMG_3396.JPG IMG_3397.JPG IMG_3399.JPG Lots of shards for kindling. IMG_3398.JPG Whats left. Just some cutting. IMG_3400.JPG Now for a stack-a-thon.

It would have been a bearable day here today for a little splitting with the breeze blowing but I had other projects. Had to put a new pool motor on and some electrical work for an outlet on one end of the pool for a new light house. I really hope we get another day good for splitting. I have some cherry and elm that is over a year old that I did not get to last spring.

Can relate to pool issues. Replaced my motor a couple weeks ago. Much more power…so much in fact it was sucking mud into the pump and blowing it through the filter and back into the pool. Determined that there was a break in the line somewhere between the skimmer and the pump. Skimmer was on the opposite side of the pool from the pump. Rented a mini excavator today and installed a new skimmer 20 feet from the pump and plugged and abandoned the old one. Got it all excavated and reinstalled today and up and running with no leaks. Repouring the concrete around the new skimmer box tomorrow. Tore the hell out of the yard with the excavator due to getting about an inch of rain last night, but had to get it done. Will reseed the lawn soon.

Glad you got it fixed. My skimmer is close and when I put the pool in I built a compartment with a trap door so almost all the lines are accessible. Sorry for the thread hijack buZZsaw BRAD

Good looking wood! I know you prefer BL but do you make a premium on it?

I told him we should blame the women’s. We were splitting, they were stacking.  But in all fairness, just looks the the ground was soft and is giving way.

Stacking in the rain, under cover, how cool. The smell of the wood must have been near intoxicating in a place like that!

I do get a premium. Most customers for it are regulars. Even have had one time customers call me back to get more.

Dead barkless BL not much aroma. More of an Earthy smell. The sound of the rain hitting the metal roof was rather loud though.

Brought in about a face cord yesterday and stacked. Keeping an even tally of half and full cords when it gets sold this Winter. Area all cleaned up for now. IMG_3477.JPG IMG_3478.JPG Room for another cord plus. I have more splits to fill out the stack.

Im thinking around seven cords from the harvest starting back in November. This area will hold 4.5 cords when full. I have a completed three cord barkless stack top covered and drying at main storage. Another cord of bark on as well. I have several other 2-3 year old stacks as well, plus a couple cord of rounds from two Winters ago awaiting my attention. You know how that goes! :picard: ;) Guessing 17-18 cord total on hand...stacked, piles and rounds.

EDIT: forgot about the nearly full one cord bin of nuggets i have here.

    Dang mania...aint it great!

What a great score Brad. Especially considering that type of tree isn’t super prominent around CT.

Thats funny about BL. Five years ago i never knew the tree existed. Once i got to know what they looked liked i see them "all over" and am still spotting them in areas i travel on a regular basis.

She gets mad at when im driving..."stop looking at trees"
