For our members who purchase used and install their stoves. Looks like a good deal: Harman P61 (automatic ignition) pellet stove - appliances - by owner... The hardest part will be to move the stove into a trailer or a pickup truck. I wonder how the professionals move a stove using jacks, dollies, and carts. Probably three men needed to lift the stove. A P61/P68 weighs about 300 lbs. A P38/P43 weighs about 200 lbs. One of our members will see this deal and want to pick-up this P61. (I hope to purchase a used P43 in a few years.) Maybe a person could disassemble the stove into smaller, lighter pieces. Feel free to make suggestions on how a person would move this stove.
X2 Yes a good deal! Pros use Something similar to: The Escalara Stair Cat With the big wheel kit for ease when going over grass and asphalt.
Hello Also I recommend a low to the ground trailer to transport the pellet stove. I built this trailer with a Harbor Freight frame I got used for $50. Just purchased the wood and bolts with vibration nuts so it will not fall apart for the sides. Then got a cheap Harbor Freight trailer light kit that I installed myself after I had a hitch and light kit installed on the RAV4. The sides and fold down back gate my helper and I built so the 2x6s are the same width apart for the Escalara Stair Cat to roll up, which I picked up for half price used including the big wheel kit. You can save a lot this way. Guess what is in the trailer? Yep a Harman P61a, It fits purfect! Harman is the only way to go! PS The Escalara & trailer also comes in handy when you buy your Green Mountain Grills pellet smoker BBQ with WiFi to save on delivery cost. Note: Just use a lot of Bungee cords to tie it all down!
A member here, CleanFire , helped me move the P43. I rented a uhaul van, he brought a heavy duty dolly and straps. Luckily, it was already outside at it's original home and I have a ramp going to my back door, so no steps involved. He did most of the work himself. I moved the P61a off the concrete blocks it had been sitting on, over about 15' to a hearth pad I made for it (getting it into better position after I'd torn out a wall for airflow) with just a couple blocks of wood and some cardboard. So getting it onto a dolly really can't be that hard. The thing I notice is the owner says it is 2 years old but is already talking about needing a fan and motherboard. That doesn't sound right to me. My P61 still has all original parts (besides door gaskets). The P43 did get a new exhaust fan a couple of years ago, but motherboard is still good (KOW).
Hi Don, That P61 is closest enough to you, that maybe you should get it. I was hoping maybe Bogieb would get it. I do not have my chimney work and fireplace work done or the room ready to add another pellet stove. But I will add a P43 in the future.
Oh yes BB there is no way that P61 is 2 years old with that ancient gold door and no indent on the ash pan! He might mean he owned the stove for 2 years and got it used.
Thanks for letting me in on the P61 but I have too many pellet stoves to refurbish now! Let me know if you know anyone that needs a 47k BTU low maintenance Quadrafire CB1200? I have 2 that almost ready!
I already have two stoves for less than 1500 sq/ft. so not looking for another. I do keep thinking about replacing the P61a with another P43 since that is way too much stove down there after all the insulation and raised floor were installed. But then if the P43 is down, the P61a can keep the main floor from getting too cold if needed and a P43 wouldn't do that (only because of my specific circumstances) But thanks for thinking of me
The P61 is 60K BTUs. You can always turn the heat down but you cannot turn a P43 up higher if you really need it.
