Been thinking about doing that nate. Mostly for the front though, since the chains on the rears give me pretty good traction now. Steering can be a little interesting at times on ice and snow. With me losing weight, I wonder how the thing will handle this winter.
No, they wouldn't stay still long enough. One or another of 'em would decide it was play time or a leaf would blow by and catch their attention. Casper noticed a deer in the field this morning and stayed where he was just staring at it.....until he decided to chase it. He always stops just before going into the woods though. I think he realizes he'll never catch one.I can get pics though.
Went back out this morning and worked on that for another 15 minutes before needing to stop. Temporary setback. Just went back and put the tractor away, since we're due for some rain.
I had chains for mine on the stock crappy turf tires but it tore up the driveway pretty bad if I spun any. Those tires with no chains could get stuck on a wet tissue! With chains wasn't a ton better. With my setup now it works fine other than if the driveway turns to a sheet of ice. The rears are a 26" ITP Blackwater and the fronts are some kind of knobby pattern. I thought about welding the diff, but it would be tough to turn.
Yeah, before the chains, seemed like I could get stuck on a downhill slope. Turf tires are for golf courses. I figure the chains are aerating the lawn a little.
"Stuck on a downhill slope"... I really hate that. The fact that I'm good at it... well, I hate that too...
Went out again this morning. Needed to cut a couple more runners to extend that stack out to 12', so I grabbed the CS and got 'er dun. Forgot the phone, so I'll take a couple pics soon when I go back out. Pulling the cord was a little tough, but not too bad. I forgot I'd need to actually start the saw. I'd like to get the Oak out of the trailer so I can load the Maple and Poplar up and get that stacked. Man, it feels great to be able to do more than sit on my butt.
Yea IMO, you heal faster if you get out & move around. That said, got to be careful to not "over-do", but the more you get the blood pumping, the faster the healing process. Lame excuse for the picture thing .... LOL Glad you can still start a saw, There are some "easy start" options. (for us old guys, I use the compression release now & then )
Yeah, I know..... This saw is my SIL's little 35cc HL and no compression release. Just needed a couple cuts and done. I agree on the healing thing. They wheeled me to the car, but I walked to the house when we got home. Started walking around the next day.
Here's the Oak I got to finish. First pic is from this morning, and 2nd is when I got done a few minutes ago. There are 13 more rounds of this Oak I need to get split/stacked that will almost fill that stack. Gotta' go vertical though, since there's no way in hades I can pick up those rounds onto the beam. More pics to follow as I progress.
Dave, pulling that rope to start the saw might not be too good of an idea just yet until you heal more. Don't want to tear anything in there.
