Good morning! 78F and sunny, the heat continues to climb. Had to reload the roadside stand last night. A load of already split ash is scheduled to come in today. Music practice at church tonight. Stay cool and have a God day!

Morning all. Bright and sunny this morning. campinspecter headed out early for a load of firewood. Almost have our woodshed full. Full is two years supply.
Quiet day at work yesterday. No real excitement. Lots of excitement leading up to our school leaving ceremony which consumes some of the staff to the exclusion of other things like getting ready for next year. Scheduling and timetables are on the agenda now.

    Everyone have a great day.

    Good morning, members.

Day 2 of 2 with 90⁰ heat. Thunder showers later today. Showery weekend.

I have some pelletized lime to spread on mossy areas of the yard. Then, maybe go for a walk. Nice morning out there.

    Be safe
    Be healthy

    Good morning y'all.

    67/89 miserable.

Planning to produce sawdust today, and probably haul a load of logs after it's too hot to saw lumber.

Yesterday we cut some hickory and walnut.
Much to my surprise, the hickory sawed pretty well..... maybe because it had been a live standing tree less than 24 hours before I milled it.

Does it make the moss grow better?

Got up late as had terrible headache. When I did get up I was surprised to see a doe and fawn right next to the house. I thought she was going to come up onto the porch but didn't. Probably teaching the fawn places that are safe. Sweet!

    Sometimes one would think that.

The lawn here has been neglected for a few years. And looks it.

This year I'm fertilizing and fighting back the moss. I broadcast ashes around the yard, which seems to help. I can see results from spreading lime a couple months ago.

I'm not looking for a Home and Garden lawn, just one that has a nice appearance.

Morning all. Another bright and sunny day ahead. last day of work for the week. My co-worker is expecting a text any day now announcing she is about to be a grandmother. It will be her first grandchild. She is doing a great job of focusing on the job at hand but you can tell it is always on the back of her mind. Unfortunately the baby will not be arriving in our community as our hospital doesn't encourage baby births here. There will be a 2 1/2 hour trip to be at her daughter's side when it all starts happening.

MikeInMa our lawn faces north in the shade of the house and we live in a damp climate. Moss lawns are very common here.
Backwoods Savage when I first got up this morning, I saw deer on the lot below us. Then I read your post about having deer next to the house.

    Everyone have a great day.

We saw our first fawn of the season today. It was doing it usual romping around while mom was eating. They are fun to watch when they are little.

Good morning! Already 86F and sunny. Hot doesn't seem to be an accurate description. I need to make bundles to refill the roadside stand tonight and then do some splitting. I got a truckload of split ash yesterday. Silver maple is coming today. It's ideal for backyard fires once I split it down to size. Have a God day!

  I figured that but had to laugh because fertilizing moss would be something Judy would have liked to do as she loved it.

It is actually a common thing but in the spot they were in it is rare for them to go there. Also, I just came back in from moving a little bit of wood. While going in back one of my does was laying just off the lane. I usually stop but know this doe so kept going but turned to go around the back garden so as not to bother her. Coming back out she again just watched me. Yes, I talked to her.

Yeah, I had some really nice logs this time.

Sawed up one more walnut and an ash this morning. IMG_20230602_064119.jpg

Got it all stickered, hickory on the bottom, walnut in the middle, ash on top.

Excellent job, my friend. We had a Mobile Dimension sawmill that I ran in the early 80's. I know the work that goes into milling and stacking green lumber.

Good morning. Got up early for coffee, catching up here, and getting ready for some fishing in an hour or so.
