We had a tree job in Feb, taking down 2 pecan trees. Got 1 load, but yard was to wet to finish. I saw some trees in the hedge row that my plant app said was BL, but no leaves to confirm. We had a chance to go yesterday and finish up. The great news, those 6 trees were black locust and big enough to cut. Our first time scoring any BL.
    A couple small ones... 0529230950_HDR.jpg
Had this nice one leaning towards the house. Had just enough room to get the tractor in there and push it past the straight holly into the hedge row. The pecan is on the ground at the edge of the yard. 0529230951_HDR.jpg
    2 more here... 0529230951a_HDR.jpg

The locust side of the trailer... 0529231411.jpg
Her neighbor had a small cherry she wanted gone. Got 3 logs from it, not much heartwood in it, probably make firewood from that. Pecan on the right side of trailer... 0529231455_HDR.jpg
It was a great day to be hoarding wood.

I have hickory, honey locust, cherry, white and red oak, hedge, sugar maple and a little red maple. Aside from one branch worth that fell in the yard this spring, I have zero black locust right now. Was told to expect some from a clearing job a friend is doing but it has yet to materialize.

Keep track where you put that BL. Save it for your coldest nights.

    Or.....

Make posts from them, if you need any.

Congrats on your first time Jeff! I have one question...was it good for you? :smoke:

All kidding aside, ill bet you were excited about getting BL for the first time when you see all the threads about it.

I see you cutting pecan often and wish i could score some but not around here. Only have seen one yard planting.

Save that for when it gets below 50* on a "cold" Georgia night!

    Wait a minute! Hold up!
That’s Georgian black locust. No good. Not the same.
I’ll swing down and haul it off to the tree dump (in my backyard) for ya T.Jeff Veal.

Backwoods Savage they had cleared somenof the bushes, I dropped the trees into the other bushes, then pulled them out with the tractor.
buZZsaw BRAD yea, it was good to the XS4910, the dry parts were a little tough...:cool::rofl:
MikeInMa I'll get it in either a shed of a few totes...
Eric VW I appreciate the offer to save me from that junky wood, but I know gas is still high. I'll find a spot and see how long it takes to rot...:thumbs:

We have hickory, red oak and white oak families, cherry, pecan. I know where a small group of honey locust is, just haven't talked them into letting us cut them. Got a 1 1/2 drums of hedge a friend in Ohio gave us last year. We also have ash, beech, soft maple and holly too.

Congratulations Jeff. Now put that stuff somewhere way out of reach and leave it. Call it your retirement account :) Wood to be used in the distant future for personal use.
The longer it sits the better it gets ;)
