SOLD! (is that the green one?) I noticed it too. As a veteran scrounger of "stuff "(not junk) i dont miss a thing.
Yep the green one. Stop by next weekend maybe? Maybe we can find a support beam too. Not sure what’s left in the old barn for wood but I bet we could find something. Push come to shove I can drop a log on your pickup with the log arch who knows, it may even be a black locust support beam. Stylin baby LOL
Gotta talk to buzz-saw and see if he has any 10' long softwood logs in storage for milling. Need a couple 2x8 (at least) for the fronts. I set the horizontal 2x4 temporarily to size the rafter. Dunno the next time we're heading up that way. Possibly next weekend. Think we have other plans for Sunday though.
Stacked the last of the oak. Three wheelbarrows worth. Room for maybe another cord on that side. Four cords plus on the other. Couple face cord in the shed. Got the stump notched for the framing. Sawzall with old blades and some chopping. PITA but got it done. Even then had to slice a little off the 2x10 bottoms for a good fit. Had enough of the hot sun. Floor framing all secure. Cut the flooring to fit. I was beat and hungry so i'll nail it down next time.
I was gonna suggest that but got distracted (squirrel!) by brisket. Used a similar technique a few years ago on a fir stump. Sawzalls saw all.
Didnt have to cut much just enough to set 2x's but still was a b!tch. Couldnt get axe in deep enough to finish so cut an inch strip off the bottom of 2x10. Good enough for me.
Yep, “good enough” is just that- works and who cares- it’s a wood shed, not a bunch of kitchen cabinets. I also used the sawzall on a euonymus gaiety that was well beyond out-of-hand when we bought this house 13 years ago… for a couple of years the repatch of grass was darker and visible on the googled earth.
stop by Saturday if you want. All the planets are inline and I have the entire neighborhood to myself Life is good
Worked for an hour late yesterday. Flooring nailed down. Set a corner post. Dont know where i got it, but weathered and light weight. Turned out to be redwood. It was definitely not cedar. Need to scrounge up some 2x4's first to finish the wall
No softwood. I don't know if any was left in Guilford. I will ask him when he gets to work later this morning.
"buZZsaw BRAD, if you keep stacking like you are the shed will be To small even before it built. We all know any shed we build ends up to small in a few years.
Aint that the truth. Im trying to use this only for bundle quality wood i sell. It gets the royal treatment!
Killed an hour or so setting back plate and center support. Got rained on a bit while working. Now to scrounge up some 2x4's.
Well i had a source for free lumber and it came through including more than enough 2x4's i needed. It was old and in storage for several decades judging by how dusty and dry it was. Worked just fine. Got the end wall framed and end rafter set. Nice cool breezy day...no complaints. Need a couple 10' 2x8 or 2x10's for front beam. NOTE: have to shave a little off the stump to set the last floor boards
Today's job gave me the 2x10's (PT from an old deck) i need for the front. My friend text me late saying he found three 12' 2x4's. Need just one more.
