Why are people like this? They've never cut firewood, never cut lumber, never even used a saw! They're expert opinion? This would make great lumber! :hair:
I guess it's mostly a selling point for them, gotta try to convince buyers it's worth something so the work should be free but you're trying to convince experts they don't know what they're experts about.

I’m no expert, but tough to sell yard trees.

In VT, a former neighbor had a logger look at their property for some tall pine trees. It was still going to cost them to have them taken down.

That's what I've always been told, yard trees aren't worth the trouble cause of all the metal that's likely in them.
We're not all expert's either, just making a point

Those are known as pasture pines and not worth much at all. See how a little ways up the trunk they split into multiple trunks? When they were young trees growing out in full sun, a white pine weevil nested in the tip of the main leader, which kills it and in turn the tree sent up multiple trunks. Completely degrades the timber value. Forest grown pines don’t have that problem.

People are cheap and looking to save money. See similar adds on FBM here on a regular basis.

So when are you going there to take them?

We get ads like that all the time around here. Must be insured and have the proper equipment to remove tree and brush. Must also grind stump. I have offered to take the tree down for $100 and have yet to get any response over several years of trying. They think they k ow better than the people who do it.

There are people who will pay it and then make some 'rustic' item and somehow make money on it when some unsuspecting person pays a rediculous price. I don't get it.

I get it a lot locally too. People just want an extra buck if they can find it. Totally clueless when it comes to that stuff.

It is no different than the idiots who have never heated with wood seem to know so much about the stoves and the fuel.
