So had all these dead Ash trees taken down a year or two ago. Had a Pro do it...cuz in town..people are not forgiving abt anything going over property lines.
Well the guy did it all in one day . Which was great...except it was an unsightly mess. So I did the best I could to separate the good firewood from the burnables. Piling with the BX. Which worked great..mostly. Then life happened ! I realized after winter..that if I don't get these trees cut and split...then they will be good for nothing. Still alot of good firewood there !
So I started by grappling the logs out of the brush and onto the ground..where I can deal with them and flip em over. Don't need these big boys rolling off a pile with me on it.

Then I marked them for 18" Cuz for me..the bigger the log..the longer I cut the pieces for some reason lol !

Then..the best part. Got me a new Sugi 24" bar ....Woodland Pro skip chain. Been wanting these for awile so I don't have to bend down as much bucking....but there's some Ash here that takes just about every bit of the bar. Plus it looks kick butt !

After 1.5 tanks...I got quite a pile done . This 562xp never ceases to amaze me ! The saw balances good....and seems to handle most of the bar buried too...granted..this isnt oak or maple. Remember..i try to avoid this bigger stuff normally ;)The Woodland Pro chain is still plenty sharp too ! Nice chips !
Used the grapple to grab the pieces and stack them...as my splitter and help will be months away from being here.

Checked the oiler too ! All the way up baby !!

Forgot to mention...I just touched up teeth alil for tomorrow..although they weren't bad.
I might have to switch all my chain to skip. I couldn't believe how fast it sharpened !

Nice combo and I should know as I have the same bar on my 562xp but use full chisel chain, both Woodland Pro and Husky X-Cut. Had it buried in hedge over the weekend.

    Thanks for the pictures.

Got 2 more rounds of cutting in...3rd and final soon. Got a big brush pile now too ! Took plenty of pics lol !
Almost ready for the splitter .
Love being able to pick up the logs after I cut em. Makes piling way easier.
These dirty logs are killing my chain :(

Got the final good logs cut. Saved the dirtiest for last. Had to sharpen ever refuel...but worth it.
Did a quick cleanup of the area with the cutting edge of the bucket. Grapple has been on so long...was nice to have a change of scenery up there lol !
Also had a chance to fill in some holes next to a yard drain. Had just the right fix for it !!!
Eventually needs a dig up...but...not now.

Thanks ! I have no clue how much is there. Is a bigger pike than the pics make it look. I'd hope for 3-5 cord. But I have no clue !

Yeah pictures of wood and piles are deceiving. Hope the yield turns out to be five cord for you.

I’ve been marking my logs too before bucking them down. As much to prevent making cookies I don’t need or want.

    nice going

    Hey thanks !!
You know...the smaller diamer logs I do ok guessing the length of cuts. The larger diameter....the longer I cut fir some reason. So it's defined worth the cost of the paint . Saves alot of aggravation later !
