One thing i like about my job is that it takes me to different neighborhoods in different towns i normally would never travel. Spotted this sugar maple this week. Grabbed a saw yesterday and stopped after work. Lady says they're keeping the wood. Dang! Trying to get caught up with what i have on hand to process before bringing more in so havent been agressively seeking a score. Well, i tried!
If it's still there in a month's time, give it another shot. Try on the weekend, maybe you'll get to ask someone different.
I generally survey the property to get an idea of the owner. Are they a hoarder or want the place well kept? Well kept they want it gone. 20 minutes from home so very doubtful id go out of my way. After i left i thought of leaving her my number.
I was going to say wait until the grass and weeds start looking like crap around it. Then i noticed the fence parts that look like they have been there a while and realized appearance might not be a motivator.
I can relate to the internal battle. See wood, think about how you need to take care of the wood you already have at home first, the devil on your shoulder eventually wins out, you decide to go for the new stuff anyway only to be beaten into submission by circumstances. Walking away gracefully is not always easy
Fighting this battle too. I am almost there " FINALLY". One more hour of splitting and a couple hours to clear off the trailer full of splits and finally done with what I have on hand. I can't tell you when the last time I was in this position was , it's been a while.
Having a good memory of stuff that isnt important in life, ill drive by there every now and then to see of it gets CSS. If not, ill be pizzed and report them for firewood abuse. We go by there often on Sundays when visiting her family.
With the stacking winding down at my shed build/few bucks" score im ready for bundle quality wood to fill in the other half. Most of this qualified for that. I have room for a PU load or two of rounds at storage one where we met up. Hoping to get rest of floor finished this weekend.
