Pellet heads!! What's up today?

The P43 has run so little lately that I forgot to check pellets and ran out yesterday morning. I was working in my office and heard the stove starting up (as it should have) and after a while it dawned on me that the distribution fan hadn't kicked in. When I realized my eror I turned the stove off until the situation could be rectified (I was in a meeting at the time so had to wait).

So I went down to the P61a and started emptying the hopper (that stove has been shut off for the season). Transferred about a bag of pellets to the P43. We'll see if that will get me thru the rest of the heating season or not. With the wind and cool breeze yesterday, and the drop in outdoor temp to under freezing this morning, I think the P43 has run more the last 24 hours than in the previous week already.

What is a roto?

 

Like that giant bush in bogieb avatar. I have several here but mostly all one color. I started a few by weighting down a branch with a rock. The branch quickly roots on its own. Cut it from the mother bush, then transplant. Keep it fed with evergreen food (acid base) and it will grow like a weed.

 

My old fashion purple lilac is in bloom. I have two others that are different types of Lilacs. Both very different in growth habits. They all blossoms on different schedules. They are all some shades of purple. I had a nice white one, but my son cut it down.

 

You know, I should try that. I need some more giants to screen off some areas. Now I just need the magic elixir that will put them at 10' tall in short order (I'd settle for 6' at this time).

 

The lilacs I have left are about a medium to light-ish purple. There were two dark purple ones when I moved in, but they had to go (as did some cedars) as they lined the driveway and they kept throwing the snow back from the snow blower.

This is two bushes. You can see a path used to run between the two that I let grow over. I have no idea how long they have been there but I wouldn't be surprised if it has been since shortly after 1960. Looking back to pics of the house from June 2014 (summer after I moved in and in the 2nd pic), apparently they kept them trimmed and topped those things. I just let them go. They span 15-20' across and over 10' high. The perspective is skewed a bit as from the right side of the garage door to the rise side of the house is about 28'.



Notice that you can see the bottom concrete stair and the concrete path that leads to the rock path - none of which are visible any more.
