CLEVELAND OHIO-- Two men who admitted stuffing fish with lead weights and fish fillets in an attempt to win thousands of dollars in an Ohio fishing tournament last fall were sentenced Thursday to ten-day jail terms and other penalties, including the forfeiture of a boat valued at $100,000.

The cheating allegations surfaced in September when Jason Fischer, Lake Erie Walleye Trail tournament director, became suspicious of the fish turned in by Jacob Runyan, 43, of Ashtabula, Ohio; and Chase Cominsky, 36, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, were significantly heavier than typical walleye.

A crowd of people at Gordon Park in Cleveland watched as Fischer cut the freshwater fish open, and found weights and walleye fillets stuffed inside.

What no media outlet has mentioned about these guys is that they were professional anglers and had multiple endorsements which are now gone.

    Wow!

Shoplifters, murderers, rapists, assault and battery, car jacking, drugs, all get a "get out of jail free" card and these guys go to jail? :sherlock: In other headlines, all fisherman will be subject to lie detector testing.

I'm going to make sure to take pictures of the fish in my "stories" just to be on the safe side now!!!!

and they still have the millions made on wins and endorsements. I'll do 10 days for a million and forfeit a boat I was more than likely given for free.

Just a slap on the wrist. Nothing new from our legal system or they paid some of their previous winnings to stay outta jail.

Nothing worse than a cheater! I say string em up!

Just be sure to put the fish in the foreground and measuring tape so far back it can barely be seen. Or measure it against something abnormally smalll

I was just about to say the same, they had tons of tourneys under their belts, won thousands of dollars I believe. Pretty stupid how they over did it with weights etc.

Cheating in a fishing tournament in some places is like stealing a horse. “…ain’t gonna be no trial”

It was front page on fox news' site.
The (now forfeited) boat was $130k

What a disgrace. They "won" 9 of 19 tournaments they entered. EVERYONE knew what was going on....the next best team won 2 tournaments. I really hope the sponsors compensate the #2 team.

the forfeited boat was given to them.

they almost did there was a Sheriff/POPO who happened to be videoing it

Actually they mostly used fish fillets so the metal detectors wouldn't pick it up. got sloppy and got caught
