Burger King plans to close hundreds of restaurants before the end of 2023.

The CEO of Restaurant Brands International Inc., which owns Burger King, said this week that they are preparing to close between 300 and 400 locations.

The news comes on the heels of several large BK franchisees recently filing for bankruptcy. The filings led to 26 locations closing in Michigan, along with the closure of 27 locations spanning Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Montana, and Minnesota, according to the Daily Meal. Illinois-based Toms King also filed for bankruptcy but was able to sell the majority of its 90 stores, per the report.

Funny thing around here, BK's old stores all seem dirty...then they will close that store and build a new one down the road. Maybe if fast food could figure out how to serve food hot or at least warm, they would have some business!

Hm, wife and I just noticed a BK in Hanover PA (prime location too) recently closed doors and is vacant. We couldn't understand why that would happen as they were always busy.

Our local BK closed last year already. Not a huge loss. The food quality was sub par most of the time.

One of my biggest complaints were the fries and onion rings always seemed under cooked. Didn’t matter where you were at.

I probably eat fast food about 6 times per year, if that. IMO Burger King is better than McDonald's, but Wendy's is better than Burger King. There are 2 Burger Kings in my town, on the same road to boot, and I would be very surprised if they didn't close at least one of them.

The last time I ate BK was about 5 years ago and the food and service were absolutely awful. I used to love Whoppers.

Only 5 left in Maine from Augusta to Fort Kent. Most closed a couple years ago here.

The only thing that is good about BK is the smell from the exhaust over the grill driving by. I can’t remember the last time I ate there but do remember I was disappointed. For what those places are charging you can spend a few more bucks and get a decent sit down meal.

Truth...the only thing they are good for now is the drive through, if you have to eat on the run...otherwise they are pricing themselves out of the market...well, the $15/hr minimum wage crowd is doing it for them...

And Bernie Sanders is crying that the minimum Federal wage should raised to $17/hr. Guess he isn't happy with the way things went when he was advocating $15/hr. I stopped at a McDonalds about a month back just for a large black coffee, for got my thermos, that was the better part of $5. Guess I will just buy a new Mr Coffee or similar for the shop. I can find something around 25$ or less at various places. Sam's club carries a 48oz can of coffee for 11.95 forget that brand name, they carry a Folgers one also but that shrank from 48 oz to 40oz for the same price ( they used to be $9.95 about 6 months ago). ( Sam's club is a divsion of Walmart) I very seldom visit any of fast food joints- For that matter I haven't been at sit down place in 3 years. The robber barons of the grocery stores are bad enough.

Back in the day I loved the original chicken sandwich with cheese and the whopper was good too. Hardee’s big cheeseburgers in the late 80’s were the stuff too.
BK’s got dirty and slow. It’s hard to wreck the original chicken, but their fries sucked and the whopper was soggy slop. A couple closed down here, but they deserved it. Wendy’s is headed in the same direction imo. There original fries were the best, but they keep changing to the latest version of crispy foam. Hardee’s is already gone. Why did they ever abandon that cheeseburger? Dang I can still remember that lifesaving cheesy greasy goodness.
Maybe it was just the tall boys and weed that made it taste so good.
It wasn’t too long ago you could get 2 combo’s for $10.
If you ever make it near the South stop by a Biscuitville. They still have good service, but it’s gonna tear the clutch out of your $10 bill.

    Those were pretty tasty!
For me Rallys/Checkers is the one to beat in the "greasy goodness" category now...and their fries hit the spot too. Add a milkshake in and its just flat out nappy time after that!

Wow I guess we are fast food deficient here. Wendy’s but not too many, BK but a lot fewer than there used to be, a handful of Dairy Queen’s statewide, chitdonalds on every corner, some KFC Taco Bell. Some new ones like Chick-fil-A, only a couple, a Red Robin, some 5 guys I’ve never been to. Never been to them fancy names you got.

In my neck of the woods Whataburger is my choice for fast food orders. They started their business back in the early 1950's with a Mom/Pop hamburger stand and have grown to over 1000 restaurants, mainly in Texas. I can not remember a single time not being satisfied with their food or service. Plus no false advertising, what you see is what you get.
