I found a couple items at work I thought would be good for the woodyard. Got the ok last week, picked them up Friday night. This metal cage is about 3.5'× 3.5'x7'... It will be a big kindling box. Going to bolt a 2x4 on each end and then use metal panel for cover. We got a big gas valve/meter assembly in, this was the skid it came on. I got the long 2x4's from it the other day. Took all the small blocks off and added 1 more 2x4 under the bottom. Ready made shed floor, 4x8 size, framed with 2x6's I was picking up some splitter scraps/kindling to put in the metal bin, and found this cute little guy... I relocated him to the plastic pallet stacks.
Most of that stuff is a great find & all will be useful. Unfortunately the only useful thing the slithering thing would be good for is surprising me & a potential coronary. You are a kind soul to relocate it. That big basket will be a great kindling basket & that is good thunking using that large pallet for a shed floor.
Maybe a brown or garter, not sure. Miz Carol wasn't around...lol...she asked which way it went......of course I told her towards the house......she didn't like that answer......especially when I told her it was still alive.
I actually think snakes are kinda cool..... I enjoy looking for the little ones by my shop but I'm not a touchy feely kind of guy. Spiders on the other hand.......
That does not look like the garter snakes I get. They don't bother me at all. A stick behind the head allows you to easily pick them up to relocate. Nice get on the metal bin. First thing that came to my mind was chunks.
I’m no fan of snakes, not by any means. But that year I had a huge black snake living in my stacks there were no mice nests to contend with. As long as they’re not poisonous I’ll leave them be. If we had Anacondas up here that may be a different story
Thought about that, got a smaller cage like that for chunks. Got a lot of splitter kindling that needa a home.
Quick search and it looks like a Dekays Brown Snake. If so it’s no problem and doesn’t even get all that large. Brownsnakes: One of America’s most Misidentified Snakes
Thanks. I sent the picture to a nature photographer friend earlier, He verified that's the kind it was. Said that was a large adult.
