Glad ya got 'er done. I did't hear you saying ouch so I'm assuming all went well. One heck of a load of wood there. Now go get in a hot tub and loosen up.
Scotty Overkill....the new "Tarzan". Jumping from tree to tree. Stay safe up there. Waiting for pics of the next one.
Great job Scotty! Helluva load of primo btu's, and one extremely cute squirrel. Did they find another home?
Nice job and good score, but watch the squirrels. They like to nest in crotches. You've been warned...
Nice haul Scotty. Took me 2 weekends to haul that much, and I'm in my prime. You ain't too old yet! Did you end up giving the maple to a friend? I know it's not good enough to grace your stacks, but I know a few guys (me) that would take it in a heartbeat!
If you're only 30 miles west of Albany, you should be fine for your sunrises... In the evenings however, you should expect early sunsets as it will be like living on the front range of the Rocky Mountains.... Weather guessers will be mystified by changes in weather patterns until Bernie Rayno lets them all know that the effects of orographic lifting and additional atmospheric moisture are coming from Scotty's stacks!!!!!
Shawn, had several people want that maple wood and it went to a good home. I have lots of maple in my stack, I'm not beyond using it. It's great wood. But I've gotten so far ahead I've only been saving the premium stuff (oak, locust, hickory, hard maple, etc) because I want to maximize the use of the storage space I have. We'll be doing a very big sugar maple in a couple weeks so I'll have to find room for that one too! Still have two huge oaks to do this fall as well as a CHITLOAD of other trees. I'll soon start saving lesser wood specifically for cooking syrup in Feb and March, always hoarding wood!!
Loon that is a fantastic picture!! Emma made a new friend there! You should enter that in a contest that would win.....
This is a good plan. Get the longer seasoning stuff now, since you're so far ahead, then work on the soft stuff. It's what I've been trying to do, but life keeps happening. Keep the pics coming, and be safe swingin' in the trees.
