I’ve been meaning to get up on the ridge and clear the road but I haven’t felt like working in crummy weather. Nice day today so I managed to get two trees cut enough to get through. Still some more to cut and haul here and a couple more trees across the road further in. The Shindaiwa 577 got a workout. It is cutting well with one of the square ground chains I made up. I’ve managed to keep it out of the dirt and rocks so it isn’t in need of a grinding session yet.
After the big snow storm we had recently that took down a lot of trees, some along the road, I was going to get out there today and get cutting on the good wood that came down. That was going to happen after I got home from Bible study at church this morning. While I was gone, the county came by and chipped up all the trees I was going to get. I can't cry over that cause I have LOTS of wood down in my woods.
I take it you weren't praying for the wood to still be there? I have lots in my woods, but finding it roadside is more fun!
Quite a bit of it actually. I’ve found over the years that once dry I can get enough btus out of it to keep our little house warm in this mild PNW climate. Not ideal of course but since I’ve got to move it anyway I figure it’s worthwhile to make it into firewood. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It's real nice to have roads in the woods. I know all too well about keeping downed trees off them. It's always easier to clear them when you know you're getting some firewood out of it.
They were a lot cheaper when I purchased mine several years ago. I’ve yet to break one and I’ve move a lot of wood with them. The green ones are good for 15-18” rounds and they make one for longer rounds as well. I find it easier to move two at a time as it balances the load. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
