First my disclaimer :D I am partial to Echo already because they work every time and are priced very well. I own a lot of Echo products because they are so reliable and priced well. This is not a bash your favorite brand review so ya know I also like most other brands but Echo is where its at for me.

One major complaint in a lot of reviews has been " the plastic is cheap" I can honestly say no it isn't. The saw is well made and very solid construction. The tank looks cheap until you realize its translucent and thats why it looks like it does. Once you unscrew the gas cap you realize its pretty thick especially for being translucent!
    KIMG0093.jpg

The case is metal and boy you can tell there is some weight to the saw but its balanced extremely well in the wood and it cuts like a hot knife….:saw:

The one big complaint I have is the spark plug wire uses a spring! I hate the boot with a spring clips are much better in my book. If you have to take the top off for any reason your gonna need to remove the boot from the plug and that spring is a pita!

The Air cover is incredibly well thought out and easy to use. Its as simple as turn the screw and off it pops. Removing the air filter is just as easy just pull it off. You can open the air filter for cleaning by using two side tabs and its apart also very easy.

one of the best parts about the saw is getting to the carb. There are two screws behind the air filter the you pull out and the carb comes off. If your like me thats important because I remove or modify the fuel and air screws so they adjust properly like they are supposed to. Most new EPA saws are set lean from the factory which can significantly reduce the life of a saw.

The fuel screws adjustments are pretty standard no real difference that I noticed.

    @DexterDay @MasterMech What did I miss? Anything?

    More to come……

A feature that I already love is the decomp button! It really helps as this saw has got good compression and you can tell when you go to pull after its warmed up. The body screws on this saw are absolutely hands down the best design I have ever owned! ( OK thats a comparison ) :emb: If you can tell from the pic they are at an angle which means that they are totally out of the way of the handle and anything else. So far all of the rest are designed similar so they are very easy to reach but the spark plug spring really negates the top because its a pita to remove.:loco:

    KIMG0090.jpg

The wrap handle is well just a wrap handle… I was hoping for some earth shattering design but thats not realistic.

    KIMG0092.jpg KIMG0104.jpg

On to the side cover it is actually pretty smooth and the metal back plate is really pretty well thought out however small a detail. I admit I would have preferred a metal side cover but its a weight game with saws so I understand. The chain tensioner again is just a chain tensioner but works very well also.

    Maybe more to come...

YAMABIKO Corporation, Parent Company of ECHO Inc., Recently Celebrated the Production of 60 Million Engines
Chicago, IL (5/31/2013) - Almost three and one-half years after the merger of the Kioritz/ECHO and Shindaiwa Companies into YAMABIKO Corporation, the company recently celebrated landmark engine production at its two primary Japanese factories.

The Morioka facility (formerly Kioritz) produced its 50th million engine, while the Hiroshima facility (formerly Shindaiwa) produced its 10th million, bringing total production to 60 million engines.

The Kioritz Company, former parent of ECHO Incorporated, was formed in 1947 with a mission to increase food production post WWII with the development and manufacture of Japan’s first manually operated spraying equipment. Five years later, it moved into the development and production of two-stroke engine powered products such as trimmers and brushcutters.

The former Shindaiwa Company was formed in 1952, focusing on the production of electric chain saws and circular saws, and industrial machines using electronic control technology such as generators and welders. In 1975 it entered the two-stroke engine market.

Both companies have more than 50 years of experience in the professional outdoor power equipment machinery market. With the technical knowledge and experience from Kioritz, ECHO, and Shindaiwa, the YAMABIKO merger created a solid corporate foundation which provides millions of 2-stroke engine products sold worldwide through authorized dealers.

ECHO Incorporated, in Lake Zurich, IL, is a subsidiary of YAMABIKO and serves not only as a distribution center for ECHO and Shindaiwa products in the Americas, but also is the largest assembly plant within the YAMABIKO group.

A ceremony commemorating the engine production milestone was held at the Morioka Division in Japan with guests including the Vice-Governor of Iwate Prefecture and the Mayor of Takizawamura.

I ordered it on ebay. They run $399 at the dealer but you can find better deals on ebay. I forgot they also have a 5 year consumer warranty, 7 day no question asked return policy and a 2 year professional warranty.
