    I agree.
Thanks guys, I just called my dentist back, voicemail at 2 pm, interesting... But they did call back, said Doc is out sick and to get antibiotics from urgent care just like you guys & Canadian border VT said. She won't call in a scrip because I've not been back in over a year (oops). Apparently my description yesterday was not enough (same symptoms I wrote here), I had to say the word "infection" to get the correct info. :loco:

That would suck super bad to lose that tooth, it's the one next my two top front teeth!

    X2.
I just went through this...gum had swollen spot, didn't hurt though...went on for a week or two so I called the dentist, which I had never been to before as my former dentist just retired, literally a couple weeks earlier. Anyways, they got me in within a couple days. She said I probably had a plugged salivary duct since there was no pain with it. Did an Xray and turns out it was indeed an infection, it had just found some path to relieve itself sometimes so it didn't swell up and cause pain. Was given a script for antibiotics and they said to start it immediately since dental infections can be serious.
They referred me to a specialist for a root canal which happened a week or so later...took almost exactly one hour and was 100% painless (except for paying) easiest one I've ever had, this dude was good! But, $1300 later...:picard: :emptywallet: ...we have good medical, but our dental, and especially vision insurance stinks!

same here. $89 per month x 3 family members for crappy coverage. I guess I need to do a cost analysis on this...

Yeah ours is a lot less than that...but has very limited annual benefit though too.
I have it figured that since they pay for 2 annual cleanings/checkups, that it makes it almost break even, even if they don't pay for anything else all year...so its still worth having, even with low max benefits

Make a triangle with your index and thumbs. Put the index fingers between your eyes and your thumbs on your chin.

considered a “golden triangle” as it was described to me for infections.

They have a direct path to your brain and can cause major life issues if left unchecked. Had a cyst on the corner of my mouth once. Doctors got very concerned for me and did outpatient surgery on the spot before he’d let me go home.

oral and sinus infections fall into that triangle too.

I thought you were describing an eye dominance test for a second. Got a little excited about projectile sports and had a major letdown.

Glad you got that straightened out with the dentist and that urgent care should be able to help out.

If you don't get in for your 2x/year cleanings, it won't be cost effective at all. Not sure why you would skip those since they are "free". But if you have to have a root canal/crown, you'll see where it is good to have even if it only covers 50-80% of the cost. And a lot of times you need both at the same time, so then costs add up faster. Insurance isn't a money maker, or even break even proposition for the average person. It is to keep from having catastrophic costs that would sink you should they occur

But, as with any insurance, it depends on how much you value those emergency costs. Sure, I don't need house or vehicle insurance (I own both and my state doesn't mandate insurance), but I keep them fully insured for peace of mind, and in case an outside party gets involved there is some protection.

EDIT at 3:50 am: reviewing my health insurance document for a recent urgent care visit, I also realized that many times insurance will reduce the initial costs of services (thru their agreement with the provider). What would have been a $671 bill to me has been cut down to $387 - and insurance isn't paying a dime (it all goes towards my deductible).

Terrible... I had to see Dentist recently and at first they said about 10 days but after insisting they got me in in just a couple days.

    Good luck.

    Copied from a friend...

"Barely the day started and... it's already six in the evening.
Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday.
... and the month is already over.
... and the year is almost over.
... and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed.
... and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.
and we realize it's too late to go back...
So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time...
Let's keep looking for activities that we like...
Let's put some color in our grey...
Let's smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.
And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters...
    I'm doing it after...
    I'll say after...
    I'll think about it after...
We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.
Because what we don't understand is that:
    Afterwards, the coffee gets cold...
    afterwards, priorities change...
    Afterwards, the charm is broken...
    afterwards, health passes...
    Afterwards, the kids grow up...
    Afterwards parents get old...
    Afterwards, promises are forgotten...
afterwards, the day becomes the night...
    afterwards life ends...
And then it's often too late....
So... Let's leave nothing for later...
Because still waiting see you later, we can lose the best moments,
    the best experiences,
    best friends,
    the best family...
The day is today... The moment is now...
We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away."

I was going to post something about "this day in history" yesterday when I had quoted and replied to your post. Thats why that phrase was typed in my response. OOPS! (it was the anniversary of the Chernobyl accident yesterday...86 I believe.....also, the first time the Dow Jones closed above (get this) 1200! Interesting.)

    Hope you're better today. :handshake:

FarmerJ love the video. I can see why it is a good place for a dog.

I have done that more times than I can to talk about. Always find the card after it was shut down and waiting on a new one with new numbers.

That is why you end up going to urgent or emergent care. They will give you the antibiotics.
