Hasn't slowed the 550 down yet, but haven't gotten to the big stuff yet.

Buying. I'm a big fan of bringing other people's organic matter onto my farm. :D

Another load for the neighbor. He’s gonna owe me a few burgers this summer.

I love the forests of the PNW. We have good forest here, but not like that.

Had some high wind, hail, and a tornado in the area last Saturday. Used my dump trailer to haul off dead limbs from my employer's property. Much easier to unload and got paid to be outside and out of the office today. Neighboring airport lost 2 hangers. We just lost some limbs, 2 port a pottys and a construction trailer was pushed off it's temporary jack foundation.

Lucky the city has a large tub grinder already onsite turning green waste into mulch and compost.

How do you compare that to the other oaks? I passed up a big one and wonder if I should regret it.

The more I thought about it, this may be a water oak. I don’t get much pin, or water oak, but I’d say they are both similar to willow, laurel, nuttall and scarlet oak. They are not as dense as white, or chestnut, but still oaks.

Pin oak is good fire wood… tends to not split as nicely as others due to volume of limbs that it grows from low to high…. A lot more naughty then others … It tends to deteriorates I’d say probably faster than other red oaks… especially when left on the ground and not processed…
