It was a beautiful day here, I did a LOT of noodling on the crotches, just to get them to manageable size for the guy to move.
There is one big crotch, prolly 5' around, I'd need a bigger bar to even think of spending time on. Not worth my time otherwise, unless there is money in it for me.
I feel good though. There is about a half cord of splits, and a few big rounds set up for splitting tomorrow.
I have yet to find the metal though!

A neighbor Lady stopped and asked if I'd want the wood in her back yard. She said it was a mustard tree. Way too much doing for me, left that one for someone else.

For the first time, my young friend came with me on a score.
When he came here a couple weeks ago, he was so weak and probably a little malnourished, he couldn't throw Ash splits at me for stacking, for long.
Today, he picked up a maul and found good success at the yard tree score. Most of it is oak, he was addicted on the second swing when the log split cleanly in half.
I was blessed with a couple hours of his help, loading and unloading 2 trailer loads (1/3 cord each), and trying his hand at splitting. He shows interest in playing with chainsaws.
I think we're up to about a cord and a half out of this score. it's hard won, but good wood to have.

Looks like he has a mean swing and sounds like a good friend to have.

Looking at the elm pics from that gtg, it looks like it had a decent crack. Prolly another few whacks....

If he'd started on elm, he wouldn't have been nearly as enthusiastic to be sure!

    It has.
