Decided to let the 'Bota have some fun doing something besides firewood... Disc harrowed a new garden spot between our daughter's house and our neighbor Mike's house... It is some rich looking dirt... On the way back to our house, the guy that owns the lot next to us has 3 trees he wants down. 2 pines and this black walnut. It had a serious lean and the trunk was a hollow 3/4 circle, which made trying to cut it a bit dicey. It rained recently, so the ground was soft. Used the grapple to break a few roots around it... Wish we could the pines like that...lol...
Nice job, but truth be told..I was a little worried about a limb breaking above and knocking you out of commission.
Thanks, brother. I had bumped it a few times earlier, but still should have had my hard hat on, at least...
Got to run Dad's Kubota Grand L 3940 today with the power rake. Moved a bunch of dirt..and smoothed it out too. What a pleasure to run this machine..with all the extra features it has . It's a tank compared to my BX...which is necessary sometimes. I did a quick initial power rake now that it's dry. Just filling in the stump sinkholes and low spots behind the sugar shack....and around pond where I did repairs last summer. Also hit all the maple sap trails too. After the next rain and drying period..I should be able to fine tune it. Power rake is the way to go I tell ya !
Still can't get anything done with this tiny Bx subcompact junk This was 4 hours. Trees standing. In the middle of the woods....was able to go in ..pull out the logs...and not make hardly a mark. No tree skinning either
I don’t think anybody said a BX is junk…from your posts you obviously like yours and it does everything you want it to do… until it doesn't then you borrow a bigger tractor… what’s a fella to do if he buys a BX and doesn't have the option to borrow a bigger tractor when the BX can’t do the job?
Why the attitude ? I can do everything with my bx. Anyone can if it's all u got. Just takes longer. So I use my options at hand. Just like I can rent a bigger machine when needed if I had too. It's comments like yours that makes me want to set the ignorant thinking and comments straight. It's the little tractor that can...even if people think it can't or won't..or shouldn't. Most people do what I did today..with a much bigger machine. So I just proved u don't need a bigger one...if a sub compact is all u got. Any more questions? I hope so...cuz I've got all the answers
I know my comment about not being able to lift a pallet of wood or other materials seems to have made some folks unhappy… like you said though, if the BX is doing what one wants it to do, use it. One critical requirement I had is it must lift an 1800-2000 lb pallet. 2250-2500 would have been ideal. Under 1400 lbs, not even a consideration.
No I hear you lol. It just seems silly that people have huge requirements..then bash a lil subcompact cuz it can't measure up. It's not suppose to in some instances lol. The manufacturers want u to buy a bigger one at that point !
I just know in the near future, I have building supplies to move around for construction. For what they want for a BX, I’ll buy a $3000 husquvarna 54” rider for that duty of cutting the grass. Even for my skid steer, it’s a cheaper option than a brush hawg and some of the other attachments.
No attitude. Honest questions. I’m curious who bashed the BX? I think I have been following along. Did I miss something? Entirely possible.
My uncle has Bota 23 hp from late 80s probably pre bx He loves it. I used it and thought about it but walked into a great deal on Mx 50 hp my 50 sucks at finish mowing
Did a little log loading deck clean up. Loggers left quite a few trees on our place. Got a load of pine for the chip mill. Got a full length cherry tree too. Longest one in the grapple. Found this BIG pine tree. 27"dia, 18' long. It was all the 'Bota could handle to drag it out. Cut it to 12.5', still so heavy, had to load 1 end , then pick up other end and push it on the trailer Found the other cut from that same tree, it was 23" dia, 15 ' long. Cut and loaded the same way. Finished out the load with smaller logs, had a shade over 10K on it. (5.24 tons)
I slept on this....and I think what was bothering me is the fact that maybe people think you can only get things done with a subcompact tractor if u are lucky enough..like me..to have access to a bigger tractor or skid. It's simply not true. I can use a box blade and my drag for the bx..instead of using my Dad's power rake . I can make 30 trips moving dirt with the bx..instead of 10 with skid . If I didn't have access to any other equipment..id still get my stuff done . No complaints abt it either. And to top it off..I can take whatever is on the 3 point...and loader off in a couple minutes...and mow 5-7 acres per week . Nothing but a heavy duty mower will hold up to that. One machine to maintain and worry about. Again..not ideal for some....or for me sometimes. But it "can" do most everything. I guess unless you own one..by choice or by that's all u can afford...you won't understand. Heck...my family still gives me a hard time for my lil Tonka tractor...literally as I'm filling that huge firewood pole rack up..and mowing..and brush hogging..etc. Some people just aren't gonna get it. That's ok...cuz I do !
