‘‘Twas a nice pile of ash logs the town had cut down on the roadside. Teasing me for months but I didn’t want to scrounge more wood until I cleaned all the dead wood on my property. And I knew other burners that lived in eyesight of the logs. Figured I’d be nice and let someone else snag em up.
So I ran into the neighbor couple months back. Couldn’t resist and asked permission to grab them. Told me to take whatever I want. He wasn’t even aware they were there. Then he mentioned the pile of logs near his house. I had cleaned up a pile of logs there in 2018 and he has more. People keep telling him they’re coming to get them but never show up. Take those too.
Well within a couple days the roadside log pile disappeared. Not sure who got them. Maybe the town cleaned up. I didn’t bother with the logs near his house. I assumed the logger who did his property was going to get them for firewood eventually.

Sister was cutting wood on the side of the road. Neighbor stopped again and offered those logs up again. He’s getting ticked off at whomever is supposed to take them. Take whatever I want and leave the rest.
Long story long, no matter what when we have the GTG there’s gonna be something to play with :)
I have no choice now. It’s the neighborly thing to do :)

Oak and Ash. Fairly old stuff but there’s some good wood in there yet.

I think there’s enough in the woods to keep me processing for 2-3 years yet. What I’ll do with it all is a different question.

The guy who cuts our fields sent a message. “Come look at my new toy” :) He has a processor too. This is for big stuff and resplitting stuff off the processor.

Clean up on aisle five. A small sampling of things to come.

5 lbs of tire pressure and she’s running smooth.

When I dropped that tree on my foot I didn’t realize I left half of the clutch cover behind. Guess I was too busy collecting the saws and getting back up the hill to the atv before my brain realized it hurt :)

Mostly just new sneakers that will roll over obstructions better. There’s a fun aspect. Much of that fun is not needing to load and unload a trailer :)

Looks like the arch is working great. Nice work. Those logs still have some good wood in them.

It’s pulling nice and smooth with a load on it. Makes it easy on the atv. I’m a little surprised at how thick the punk is on these standing dead red oak. The box wedge helps remove some of that.
On the other side of the coin there’s a small stand of long dead Ash in a swamp. Most of it on the ground for a few years already. Cut some up a few days ago and amazingly enough it’s all solid so far. No sign of degradation. Sometimes this world just doesn’t make sense LOL
