Same here but cooled down enough last night with open windows. More like a cooler August night but was comfortable enough. My brother in Kingston was using his mini split for ac yesterday. My outside unit is still wrapped-got to get to that soon bit not just yet. Fired up the ac at work today for a few hours late afternoon to make sure the very old units were working. 90 plus yesterday and almost 90 today-cooling down to normal now though-windows open and very comfy.

When I started the yard cleanup last Saturday I realized how over stacked the big fire pit is. I started stacking next to it and need to thin it before burning the brush-too dry already to have a big fire. No fire this weekend likely but may get some showers Sunday-Tuesday so maybe?

Really glad I got to the growing areas cleared as this past week it went from almost nothing to things sprouting like crazy. At least I dont have to watch where I step as the main growing areas are clear. Lots more to clean up.

Cool start to the day today after 2 days of summer. Totally forgot about sunscreen working on the cars the past 2 days, got a decent sunburn on back of my neck and arms. At least I had a hat on, nothing worse than a sunburn on a bald head.

After the parts guys at McGee Toyota in Epping helped us out with the brake parts decided to throw a little business their way buy getting the tires we need for the Rav4 there . Toyota having a nationwide buy 3 get the 4th for a $1 sale. Getting the tires for $760 (that's including installation), alignment for another $120.

Got a computer to build, not sure how my already sore, swollen, stiff fingers will do today. I can see dropped screwdrivers and screws in my future.

Probably going to buy pellets soon as well. At Fallons, Vermont's are $405/ton, Wood & Sons, $375. Probably going with 3 tons of Vermont, they give just a little more heat than the W&S. Figure if we wait price only going to go up, especially now that OPEC cut productions quotas so fuel/shipping costs will go up.

Just saw the local cheapee gas station price rose $.30/gal last 2 days.

 

Amazing what you can do with the right stuff. Imagine pulling those out with hand tools.

 

Fuel cost don't concern me much as my farm fuel I write off as a business expense and we don't drive all that much anyway (cars) and my little puddle jumper gets 40 mpg anyway. My new PTO driven stumper is due in, end of the month so I'll be grinding stumps big time. Looked at lots of them but settled on a Land Pride SG24, 3 point mounted one that articulates. Another implement for the barn when not in use. It uses Green Manufacturing carbide cutting teeth and Green is local for me so if I need new teeth I can pick them up right at the factory (in Morenci, Michigan) which is about 25 miles from the farm.

Jtakeman... You need one of my M9's and a brush grubber to pull them out. Probably yank them out in 2wd.

 

I really don't like maples (or popples or willows) for that matter, all dirty trees. I prefer oaks myself and I have some large ones. Got a huge popple in the front yard I'd like to have cut down but my wife won't let me. The trunk base must be 3 feet across and it's a bucket truck job for sure. Least I don't have to pay for that type of service, I trade chipper knife sharpening for bucket truck and chipper work.

Have my choice of contractors too in as much as I sharpen chipper knives for all the local arborists.

 

Warm here presently, but that will change towards the afternoon with rain changing to snow and temps dropping and next week is supposed to be cold with rain and snow showers. I gage the weather by the trees and none of ours have come out yet. They know better than any weather forecaster does.

Might be firing up the biomass stove next week for a short.

 

I swear I was holding that screwdriver in my hand, why is it on the floor now And all the screws for computer stuff are black now, rug in my den is tan & black but they always fall onto the black areas. Have to run a small magnet over the area when I get done.

Been there, done that( my gripper has a magnet on its end), try installing ferrite cores with one paw.
