Finished the 345 today View attachment 376180 View attachment 376182 Somebody set my test wood on fire at my neighbors place.
I ran into this the other day. Saw started acting like it was running out of gas when I knew it had plenty. Someone musta used the last bit of fuel line off a roll as this wasn't allowing the filter to move about. It was holding it up out the fuel around 1/2 tank. All the lines were new including that one. It was the only corkscrew.
Tore it down today the piston and cylinder were in great shape other than a mud daubers nest in it I'll put new bearings in it and rebuild it with parts I have around.
Back together and running. Just waiting for the correct air filter base. stihl is certainly crafty the way they shove all that linkage inside the handle.

I have a couple vintage Homelite saws that use 3/8 chain. I might try a couple of those for the rare occasions I'll use one.
It's crazy what chains are bringing now locally A 84dl Stihl is at 40.00 after tax Oregon is 30.00 5 pack 24" Chainsaw Chain 3/8" .050 Gauge 84DL Fit Stihl Husqvarna 390XP 460 455 | eBay I got these in yesterday to try out on customer's saws they cut as any out of the box chain does it shapes up with a handfile They always bring me trashed chains on saws I work on And they always buy chains from me instead of the triple priced stuff Over the year's I've sold around 50 upstart 20" 72dl to a local firewood seller he really likes them instead of paying over 1200.00 for Stihl he paid around 400.00 Holds up fine for us.
Neighbor had his son in law run his new from boxstore 440 He burned through the chainbrake And fried the clutch It took some doing my neighbor burned his hand long after his sil shut it off.
My brother borrowed my echo 355T recently and his friend was using it on a job they were working on. Heated up the clutch so bad the brake melted the clutch cover. At least that’s the story he told me You’re spot on on stupid…..can’t be fixed!
I kind of like the fuel jug that comes with that saw. Something like that might be good to take on the road for a day of cutting.
Have you tried? This is like a limiter that is on the needle of a high speed carb adjusting screw, you can only go so far and it still isn't quite right.
