Been a long minute since I've posted, I apologize all, but between working on chainsaw, climbing trees and my actual real job......well, it's hectic. Sure miss all yinz guys and gals, we're getting close to Dennys GTG (next weekend!!) and then Duanes in May and then ours in June, so I'm really looking forward to seeing a bunch of ya!! Here's one of many we've done recently, this one was literally hanging over the house, the phone lines, the service, a pavilion, a patio, and the fence. Every bit needed pieced snd rigged out and it went without a hitch.... I climbed in it to remove all the limbs and blacksmith finished the spars out. Joe got a nice cache of hickory for his stash....
If you’ve never been around either one of these two… you might not realize Charmin has nothing on this guy- Just kidding y’all- like so many FHC members, these fellas are some of the toughest, funniest, compassionate and caring dudes around!
Hope ya got a helluva paycheck on that one! I burned through several cords of SBH a few years ago. Top of the list BTU’s for me.

Nice Job!! it is nice to see when takedowns are done the old way !!! In my area they would have had cranes and lifts or one of those boom saws there, it seems that most of the companies down here have more money to burn on expensive Iron JB
That was no easy job!! We're proud of you guys. It is still a shame to have to take down a shagbark. We used to have lots of them around here but no more.
WOW! Thats a tough one. Great job guys getting it down safely. Did you have to really jab your splikes into that trunk? I imagine its not as easy as others?
That stinks. We still have a lot of them around here. Every time I see a nice one I have the desire to take a pic but usually don't. What happened that you don't?
That bark is hard-core for sure, we were peeling 4' pices of outer bark off to get good foothold. When I first went to the very top of the tree to set the rigging line, I didn't even wear spikes. Just went up the rope. Much easier to get up without a flip line and spikes. But needed them on to do practical work once the lines were set.
I honestly love the challenges of this kind of work, but sometimes these technical trees can kick yer arse.....
Lol just my hobby jobby. If I'd have started out earlier in life, I'd have made a real career of it. Really love this kind lf work!
Ive never climbed and was offered to get the equipment by an old timer who did tree work on the side. Kinda on my bucket list as the years pass and at nearly 55 im running out of years. Great thread and pics. You guys work safe out there.
The homeowner absolutely HATED this tree. They bought the house last year and were blown away at the mess it caused. Not to mention it was Hollow. We will be finishing the trunk this evening.....that'll show how far down the rot goes.
