Headed out to get some sugar maple but this soft maple limb came down in the corn field so I needed to take care of the farmer since he is awful good to me.
Looking good! The other tree will still be there, and the landowner has one less thing to deal with. That's how it's done!
Absolutely agree, I also cut a couple ash limbs that came down but they weren't much good, just got them off the field before planting time.
I will probably split it and take it down to the widow I help. She has and old greenhouse open on both ends and it dries wood exceptionally well.
One of the good points of the day was, when I went looking around for something to top off with I found more red oak I hadn't spotted before. Should be a couple loads to haul out.
Great when that happens. Often on my BL scrounges ill find additional logs buried from prior storms/clean ups etc. Often requiring a return trip. How soon you going back?
Well the main farmer I cut on now was at church today. He wants me to cut in a spot I cut in before, just a small patch that had some larger trees that we were waiting on loggers to take then the medium to small stuff was all coming down for tillable ground. Wife and I took a drive after all the family left. I was expecting to see a bunch that needed dropped, but much to my surprise the loggers knocked down everything and then just took the big stuff. I spied several medium sized shagbarks just waiting for me. After a few loads that look pretty easy I may have to get the skid steer to move some brush.
