We asked to be excused when finished eating? And carried our plates to the kitchen sink...from the table where we ate?
most retail shops were closed on Sundays, a lot would only be until noon on Saturday. weekday hours mostly 9-5 may or may not be open from 12-1 for lunch. that was the 50's during the 60's it all changed ( for better or worse)
I remember our pastor's sermon when the largest grocery chain in our area announced Sunday hours. Basically he said only go if you absolutely need to, don't plan regular weekly shopping on Sunday
When I was a kid one of the worse things that could happen was you blew a tire on your bike Saturday late afternoon. Then you had to wait until monday after your parents got home from work to get one. No wheels for 2 days!
